Life without Caitlin Clark has officially begun for the Indiana Fever. It wasn’t the start they hoped for, obviously, dropping another close game, this time to the Mystics. But is there still hope for a turnaround? Absolutely! When your roster is packed with champions, anything’s possible. One of those champions is Lexie Hull. She’s exactly the kind of player you want on your team. The 25-year-old not only helped Stanford win the NCAA championship in 2021 but also led her Unrivaled team, Rose BC, to the championship. She knows how to win, and the Fever will be counting on her to help turn this tough stretch around with solid performances. Ahead of their upcoming game against the Sun, Hull even posted a video that caught Caitlin Clark’s attention.
Hull took to Instagram to share her gameday routine. She always starts her day by waking up to make her coffee and spending some time playing with her dog before heading to the training facility for pre-game rehab and gym work. After that, she goes back home to get ready for the game, spend some quality time with her loved ones before heading out again. The life of an athlete can definitely be stressful at times!
She posted, “It’s game day! Here’s what a full day looks like before tip-off in Indy. My mornings always start the same way… brush my teeth… make my coffee, and then try to get some of Libby’s energy out.
She further talks about what she does after that in the video, “Then it’s off to shoot around. Once I get to the facility, I’ll get a quick breakfast, gotta fuel up, nothing too heavy, then it’s treatment with the one and only Maria and a light lift, enough to get everything activated and ready. Then back home to reset for a bit. I get some time with Will and Libby and then some recovery time while I binge whatever my current obsession is. And then it’s time to get ready. I’ll do my makeup, do my hair, pick out whatever outfit I’m wearing, and then it’s game time. So it’s time to head back to the facility. Before that, I’ll give some cuddles to Libby, but we’re at home tonight with the Connecticut Sun. It’s live on ION, so tune in and wish us luck!”
But it’s this routine that caught the attention of Clark, who is currently sidelined with a left quadricep injury. An injury that will see her miss the next three games minimum. While you might assume Clark has a similar routine to Hull’s, she still took to Instagram to comment on Lexie’s post, writing, “Truly inspiring bro.”
So far this season, Hull has been averaging 9.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. She has started just 2 games this season, but it goes without saying that she is undoubtedly an important cog in the system, averaging nearly 27 minutes per game, the highest average of her career so far.
Following their loss to the Mystics, Hull wasted no time talking about how Clark’s absence has affected the team. Let’s take a look at what she had to say!
Lexie Hull on adjusting Indiana Fever’s game plan without Caitlin Clark
In their first game without reigning Rookie of the Year, the Indiana Fever fell 83–77 to the Washington Mystics on May 28. There were plenty of positives and negatives in the defeat. One of the biggest challenges was running the offense without their star point guard. Lexie Hull spoke to reporters after practice on May 29, openly acknowledging how tough it has been to adjust the Indiana offense without Clark.
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) reacts to the action Saturday, May 24, 2025, during a game between the Indiana Fever and the New York Liberty at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The New York Liberty defeated the Indiana Fever, 90-88.
“Defenses play us different without Caitlin out there,” Hull told Scott Agness. “It feels a little bit like we’re starting over with a different group because everything’s a little bit different without her out there. We’re just trying to figure out what our best looks are. And it’s going to be a learning process.”
Hull, who usually gets open looks in transition off Clark’s assists, scored nine points but didn’t have the same space or timing. That is understandable since teams no longer have to double or triple team one particular player. Coach Stephanie White will still work on new strategies to create better offensive plays ahead of their next game against her former team. Can the Fever snap their two-game losing streak? Stay tuned to find out!
