Not long ago, Indiana Fever was a forgotten team, buried at the bottom of the standings, searching for a way out. Then came Caitlin Clark, the most electrifying rookie in years. She was supposed to change everything. But reality hit hard. No matter how many points she put up, the Fever was outmatched, and their thin roster was exposed against deeper teams. Now, after a high-stakes offseason, did Indiana finally crack the code? Or is another season of frustration ahead?
Caitlin Clark’s anticipated arrival brought hope to the Indiana Fever. But the game has never been a one woman show. It’s a team sport. And teams with balance and cohesion are the ones who carry out even the toughest of the winds. Night after Night, Caitlin Clark lit up the court with her performances. Not only her even Boston, and Mitchell were giving performances. Due to the quality of the trio, they were often overplayed while the bench offered little relief. Something had to change here.
Last season, the Fever’s core trio carried a heavy load, with Clark, Boston, and Mitchell often logging over 35 minutes per game. The lack of depth didn’t just wear them down physically, it made rotations a nightmare. Indiana Fever needed reinforcements, and fast. Coach Stephanie White knew this wasn’t sustainable, and in free agency, she took action. Speaking on the Off the Charts Podcast, White laid out her plan.
Indiana’s offseason mission was clear: Build around Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell without overloading them. And White wasted no time. The Coach revealed, “We got to surround our big 3 with great veteran players that complement them,” White explained on the Off the Charts Podcast. “And I think we have done that. We were fortunate to do both (free agency and adding depth). It puts us in a position to compete.”
Indiana Fever Head Coach Stephanie White talks about how the Fever were not only able to build around the core 3, but also add the depth they need to go for a run at a championship.

For the first time in years, Indiana Fever isn’t just hoping for improvement, they’ve made it happen. The relentless grind that once drained their stars is finally easing. With a revamped bench, the days of Clark, Boston, and Mitchell carrying the entire load might finally be over. But a deeper team brings its own set of challenges, chemistry, rotations, and balancing egos. And that’s where Coach White faces her biggest test yet.
Caitlin Clark’s Burden Eases, But Coach White’s Biggest Test Begins
Depth was the missing piece, but now Indiana has stacked the deck. Three-time WNBA champion Natasha Howard, sharpshooter Sophie Cunningham, and veteran star DeWanna Bonner have joined the mix. On paper, this squad looks dangerous. But White knows that talent alone doesn’t win games, cohesion does.

With a deeper bench comes a different kind of challenge. White now faces the task of molding individual talent into a seamless unit. “Our job as coaches is to build that chemistry early, to figure out which players play the best with one another. Figure out our rotation. We have to make sure we are efficient throughout the season.” said White.
With their roster revamped, the Fever now have depth and experience on their side. But talent alone won’t guarantee success. The real test begins now, finding the right chemistry, managing rotations, and ensuring Caitlin Clark and her teammates peak at the right time.
Caitlin Clark has the firepower she lacked last season. But with new weapons comes new expectations. Can she and the Fever turn potential into dominance, or will growing pains stall their rise? The spotlight is on Indiana, and the league is watching. Do they have what it takes?
