Lately, it’s going tough on the greens for Tony Finau. His last win came back in 2023 with Mexico Open. He followed that with a series of moderate performances and missed cuts. Three missed cuts and only one top-10 finish. But hey, just because Finau is having a tough time on the course does not mean he is having it tough outside of it, too. In 2024, Tony Finau gave us plenty to cheer for. He dug deep at the U.S. Open, grinding his way to a T-3 finish and proving he’s still a force to be reckoned with. Week in and week out, he stayed in the hunt with multiple top-10s. It was that effortless power and cool demeanor we love. Sure, there were a few bumps along the way, but Finau never backed down—17-under at The Sentry, clutch performances when it mattered – he kept swinging.
Last year, having helped the U.S. team register its tenth consecutive win in the Presidents Cup, the golfer was more than active outside of it. Max Homa was still teeing off at the 17th hole when the afterparty started. Finau was asked about his plans for the night. His answer? “In the wise words of Travis Kelce, “You’ve gotta fight, for your right … to party!!!!” Undoubtedly, the life of the party. So, what’s the latest news that has fans rolling in laughter?
Tony Finau was last active on the TPC Sawgrass. The golfer was walking out of the course when three friends, running the Instagram account @handshakebets, made a hilarious bet. They had to tell Tony Finau that he has a “fat a**.” Known for taking up challenges of this kind, Tyler Kozub decided to do it. As Finau was walking by, he called out after him and said, “Hey, Tony, your a** looks kinda fat in those pants, buddy!” All for $5! But the bet was made and Tony Finau had noticed it.
He went home and informed his wife about it. Alayna Finau found it funny couldn’t stop laughing and took to Instagram to share this one incident. She shared a story and added this caption: “Tony came home & said, ‘someone on the course said my looked big”. LOL and then someone tags me in this video on TikTok. & I died. ”
The friends are content creators and have a massive following! And Tony Finau is not the only target. During The PLAYERS Championship, the friends made a bet that Pat, one of the friends, could not finish his beer before Scottie Scheffler’s ball hit the greens. Another $5 bet, but Pat makes it through and wins the bet. We didn’t get a reaction for this one, but Alayna’s reaction does show the couple share a very deep bond. On that occasion, let’s take a look at some of their fan-favorite moments!
Tony Finau and Alayna Finau maintain a healthy and playful relationship
Tony Finau and Alayna Finau welcomed their sixth child early this year. What’s next? They wait until the baby is born and let their other children make bets on the baby’s gender. OF course, there’s a video. He brings his children into the hospital room where Alayna has the baby wrapped in a blanket with only the face showing. Then, Finau asks his children, one at a time, to guess. The kids were all in on a baby brother. But, surprise! They got a baby sister!
Before that, in the year 2024, Finau was dealing with the LIV Golf rumors. People were suspecting that the World No. 31 will take a leave from the Tour for a deal worth at least $350 million. But Alayna jibed back with a TikTok video. In it, the couple enjoys some time together while acknowledging the rumor. Alayna says, “My life is complicated enough, the last thing I need is more drama.” Then, a report about the LIV Golf and Finau drama comes up on the screen. “Hello, drama,” she says then. Fans found fun in it and ended up both laughing and supporting the couple.
Even before this, Alayna threatened to sell Finau’s clubs for 99 cents for not asking her to be his Valentine. Married for 12 years then, Alayna posted their picture and said: “It’s Feb. 12 and he hasn’t asked me to be his Valentines yet.” She added a picture of his golf bag and wrote: “Golf Clubs for sale, 99 cents. Hits far, thick grips, custom leather, head covers, Foresight launch monitor included.” Finau found it funny and said: “For like 99 cents, can you believe it?”
Tony Finau’s kids aren’t just growing up around golf – they’re friends with other kids in the golf family! They’ve built friendships with the Summerhays crew, and Preston Summerhays, a rising star himself, has logged plenty of rounds with Finau. It’s all fun and love. And so fans are enjoying this new Alayna acknowledgment as much as they did before!
