Hurt by Modeling Rumors at USC, Michael Strahan’s Daughter Isabella Launches New Project After Winning Cancer Battle

5 min read

Life can change in an instant. One minute, you’re a college freshman. The next, you’re fighting a battle you never saw coming. Isabella faced it all. Diagnosed with a brain tumor in October 2023, the 20-year-old daughter of NFL legend Michael Strahan took the fight head-on and came out triumphant. Giving up? Huh, we are talking about the Strahans here.

Now, just months after being declared cancer-free, she’s back—not just to normal life, but in the spotlight, front and center of Kenneth Cole’s “Purposeful Voices” campaign.

A campaign about hope? Yeah, Isabella was the perfect pick. Kenneth Cole, a brand known for its advocacy, tapped her to be the face of their Spring 2025 collection. Fashion statement? No. But in actual truth, it’s beyond that. Isabella has fanfare now since his big life W. There are many who are coming out with their traumatic experience through it all.

After all, this is someone who, at 19, underwent brain surgery right before her birthday, lost the ability to walk and talk, and still came out the other side ready to take on the world. There couldn’t be a better reason for someone to start an Isabella fan club. “I’m so honored to be a part of this campaign,” she shared. “It made me realize my words and actions do have power.”

So, what’s the vibe of this collection? Earthy tones, effortless designs, and pieces that feel just as comfortable as they are stylish. A perfect fit for Isabella, who got to choose seven outfits—“Isabella’s Picks”—ranging from casual double denim to a bit of sparkle. “We paired together lots of options, but ultimately ended up wearing what felt most like my style,” she said.

But beyond the runway, this campaign is part of something bigger. Kenneth Cole’s “Purposeful Voices” series aims to spotlight individuals who use their platforms to uplift others. For Isabella, that’s about sharing her journey—the highs, the lows, and everything in between.

Her father, Michael Strahan, has been vocal about his daughter’s strength, calling her both a “survivor and a thriver.” And he’s not wrong. This isn’t just about overcoming an illness; it’s about stepping into a new chapter, one where she gets to define her path—on her terms.

So, when she hears made-up stuff as to why she had to step out of USC, she feels sad and bad… Not mad. Actually, never mad. Isabella’s calmer than that.

Isabella Strahan’s got nothing to prove

A year after Isabella had to put USC on pause and fight for her life, she returned after a huge win. However, she wasn’t expecting victory laps, but little did she know, that returning wasn’t as simple as walking through those university gates. As she recently shared on Beyond the Battlefront podcast, the transition was anything but smooth.

Isabella came back to a campus that had moved on without her. Friend groups had formed, routines were set, and she had to find her footing all over again. “It’s definitely interesting, like now being back at school. Seeing all the friend groups that formed when I wasn’t there,” she admitted.

While some friends had stayed by her side through hospital visits and FaceTime check-ins, the reality was harsh—most of her classmates had lived a completely different year. And then came the rumors. Because, of course, college gossip never takes a day off.

Apparently, while Isabella was undergoing surgeries, chemo, and radiation, some people had decided she was off chasing a modeling career instead. “I heard the other day that there were rumors that I dropped out of school to pursue modeling. I was like, ‘No, I didn’t!’” she said, laughing at the absurdity of it all. It’s wild how fast misinformation spreads when the truth is right there in the open. And yet, here she trying to find humor in it when it does tread on borderline offensive. But that’s Isabella for you.

The girl who once worried about social circles now had a completely different perspective. “I love getting to be able to go to classes with people my age, and I just joined a sorority, so it’s been great to meet so many new people,” she shared. The battle had changed her, but it hadn’t broken her. If anything, it had given her a new purpose—one that went beyond surviving and into inspiring.

So, no, Michael Strahan’s daughter doesn’t have anything to prove. Not to her classmates, not to the gossip mill, and definitely not to anyone questioning her. And if anyone still thinks she left USC for a modeling career? Well, let’s just say that a little sneak peek on Kenneth Cole’s site would be enough for you.
