Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has surged into the spotlight, thanks to David Feldman’s vision and Conor McGregor’s star-studded entry as a part-owner. Known for loving pure, raw violence, McGregor brought more than fame, he turned BKFC into a full-blown spectacle. But with big names come big egos, and his feud with “Platinum” Mike Perry added serious heat. Their clash of personalities has fueled headlines, adding another layer of drama to BKFC’s already wild rise.
McGregor was a big supporter of Perry before his fight against Jake Paul last year. But when ‘The Platinum’ lost, it hit hard, so much so that McGregor ended up cutting him from BKFC. Since then, the tension between them has been nonstop. There’s hardly ever a moment when they don’t throw shots at each other. That back-and-forth even played out at BKFC 74 in Salt Lake City, after the Richman vs. Dyer event.
‘The Notorious One’ wasn’t at the event in person, but he was watching as Josh Dyer knocked out Mike Richman in the 4th round to claim the light-heavyweight belt. Riding the high of that win, McGregor took to Instagram to praise the new champ, writing, “MY NEW LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION IS A NASTY VINDICTIVE PIECE OF WORK.” In a lengthy story post, he went on: “Call them all out, our champion. Go outside the sphere. Slap them around— they can do nothing about it. Say it more. The Rock Johnson.” This story was also a direct dig at Mike Perry, keeping their rivalry alive and well.
Everyone expected Perry to fire back at McGregor’s comment. On a recent episode of Overdogs, ‘The Platinum’ fired off, “Well, if people would rather see Conor talk about Bare Knuckle than me fighting in the ring, that’s their own choice. I’ve been running through my highlights all day—I was watching them last night—and honestly, I’m a fun freaking beast! To be real, I get in there and I bang in the ring.”

That’s true! After leaving the UFC, Perry has carved out a whole new identity fighting in Bare Knuckle. He’s faced off against some of the biggest names from the UFC, former champ Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, and Thiago Alves, just to name a few. So, he knows his way around this sport. As he looks ahead to his comeback, Perry even says he thinks Conor McGregor would make a worthy opponent.
He added, “So, look! Conor, he ain’t even gonna fight anymore, he’s talking, if he wanted to fight somebody, he should fight me. And, they need to go ahead and give me a match-up, so that I can go ahead, get in the ring, knock out someone’s teeth, make a big spectacle out of all of it, and we make any fight they want to make happen for the big bucks too!”
That’s a massive callout to ‘The Notorious One’! A fight between McGregor and Perry would break the charts. But for now, it’s not happening anytime soon—McGregor still has two fights left on his UFC contract. So, unless he makes a grand return to the UFC, the Michigan native will have to be patient if he wants that matchup. It seems the former two-division champion knows this too, considering how interested he was at one point in signing Mike back.
Conor McGregor wanted Mike Perry to join BKFC back
There’s clearly some serious animosity between Conor McGregor and Mike Perry. But that hasn’t stopped ‘The Notorious One’ from recognizing that ‘The Platinum’ has become a legit name in the Bare Knuckle scene. Even after his loss to Jake Paul in a boxing match, people still want to see Perry fight because of the excitement he brings every time he steps inside the ring.
At a BKFC press conference last month, McGregor made an interesting statement about Perry, saying, “He should come home. Mike should come home. He still shows love for the game, and we’ll always have love for Mike Perry, for sure. And yeah, me and Mike would be a great fight, no doubt.” Clearly, the Irishman is entertained by the idea of a bare-knuckle bout—one that would send the company’s stock soaring to new heights!
Perry also caught wind of the former two-division champ calling him back, and during his appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, he showed a hint of interest in the idea. While he didn’t say it outright, it was clear the potential Conor fight had his attention.
‘The Platinum’ said, “I mean, all respect to Conor for everything he’s done, and he promotes quite well. He was just at the White House. Maybe he’s trying to make it sound because BKFC is working, so it’s like they’ve been working. He tried to say, ‘Oh, you’re fired’ and then you haven’t seen me back. Now he’s saying, ‘Come home,’ and now you’re probably about to see me get a deal with them again. My deal’s always been on the table. My contract, I still have three fights left that I would like to fight.”
Now, Perry has got busy with his Dirty Boxing championship that he co-owns with Jon Jones. So, it’s a big if that he would ever fight McGregor. However, would you be ever interested in that fight? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.
