How Many Children Do Patrick Reed & His Wife Justine Karain Have Together? LIV Golf Pro’s Family Life Explored

4 min read

Patrick Reed and his wife, Justine Karain, share a bond that goes beyond the fairways. From the moment they met to the years spent chasing his golf dreams together, their relationship has been built on unwavering support and teamwork.

Patrick and Justine’s journey started at Augusta State University, where they met after an unexpected twist of fate. Reminiscing fondly about how he met Justine, Reed told Golf Digest: “I was a freshman at the University of Georgia, and her younger sister, Kris, was at LSU. Kris came to visit, and we went on one date, and I texted her to confirm she’d made it back home safe. No response.

“So I reached out to Justine on Facebook, who confirmed her sister was back and got frank with me about why it was probably not going to work out. So I start talking with Justine, who I discovered is this incredibly driven person who was pursuing dual degrees while working to become a nurse.
“We kept talking as a couple of years went by; then we started dating. Best decision of my life.”

Before fully committing to supporting Reed’s career, Justine was a nurse, having earned two undergraduate degrees. But she set aside her own aspirations to help Patrick chase his dream, even taking on the caddie role in his early professional years. “We were road warriors,” Reed once recalled about his early days chasing Monday qualifiers with Justine as his caddie. From long drives to small-budget tournaments, their bond was built on perseverance and sacrifice. When Justine stepped away from caddying after her first pregnancy, her brother, Kessler Karain, took over the role.

Soon after, Patrick Reed and his wife were blessed with two children: their daughter, Windsor-Wells Reed, born in 2014, and their son, Barrett Benjamin Reed, who arrived in 2017. Though Reed is known for his fiery competitiveness on the course, his softer side emerges when talking about his family. On the birth of his son, Reed shared pictures on Instagram, celebrating the gender reveal. The caption read: “It’s a BOY! We’re so excited! Thank you everyone for the well wishes! #teamreed”

While Patrick occasionally shares glimpses of his family on Instagram and Twitter, Justine seems to maintain a low profile with no active personal social media accounts.

But her presence in Patrick’s life and career remains undeniable. Despite stepping away from the course, Justine remains deeply involved in Reed’s career. She meticulously helps him strategize before tournaments, breaking down courses hole by hole and even debriefing him after rounds. But while Justine has been a constant source of support in Reed’s professional life, how has his relationship with his own family unfolded over the years?

Reed’s Family Drama That Made the Headlines

Beyond their professional partnership, the couple has also endured terrifying personal trials. In 2014, Justine suffered a grand mal seizure while taking a bath. Reed found her submerged and unresponsive, just seconds away from death. His quick actions—pulling her from the water and performing the Heimlich maneuver—saved her life.

Doctors later revealed that had Reed arrived even 10–15 seconds later, she likely wouldn’t have survived. It was a harrowing moment that cemented just how much they relied on each other.

However, not everything has been smooth sailing for the Reed family. Patrick’s relationship with his parents has been publicly strained ever since he married Justine in 2012. His parents and sister were not invited to the wedding, and the tension escalated to the point where they were escorted out of a PGA Tour event in 2014.

Justine later claimed in a now-deleted Facebook post that Reed had suffered verbal and physical abuse from his parents growing up. Meanwhile, his mother, Jeannette Reed, has continued to publicly support his golf career via social media, though it remains unclear whether the family has reconciled.

As Reed looks to regain his winning form, one thing remains constant—his unwavering support system at home. His wife Justine and their two children, Windsor-Wells and Barrett Benjamin, are always in his corner, whether he’s battling for titles on LIV Golf or grinding through the DP World Tour.

Through career highs and personal challenges, the Reeds have built a foundation rooted in resilience, loyalty, and sacrifice. While Reed fights to reestablish himself among golf’s elite, his biggest victories may not come from the leaderboard—but from the love and support that keeps him grounded beyond the fairways.
