“How Have You Not Moved On?” – Jamahal Hill Picks His Side After Alex Pereira’s Ex-Fiancée’s UFC 313 Celebrations

5 min read

Alex Pereira‘s ex-fiancee’s distasteful comments on her former partner have really caught the whole MMA community’s attention following his UFC 313 loss. Fortunately for the former champion, support came from all sides, with Conor McGregor standing as the most high-profile fighter to have slammed Merle Christine for gloating over ‘Poatan’s loss to Magomed Ankalaev. Now, another fighter has come forward to extend his support to Pereira, but it was a bit unexpected.

Jamahal Hill isn’t necessarily on the best of terms with Alex Pereira since his defeat to the Brazilian native back at UFC 300. The duo even clashed a few months ago at the UFC PI, and they almost came to blows. However, Hill’s beef with Pereira stems from a spirit of competition and what happens inside the Octagon. On that note, he, much like Conor McGregor and others, picked ‘Poatan’s side when it came to the recent drama with Merle Christine, suggesting his ex-partner to “move on.”

When Alex Pereira’s breakup with Merle Christine became a hot topic more than a year ago, there were certain personal details that popped up in the public. According to Jamahal Hill, the best course of action for his rival’s former partner is to steer clear of any more drama than she already has.

“That sh*t’s lame as hell. I’m just going to keep it real. That’s like really, really lame for her to do and just like, she like married, got married to somebody else. You know what I mean? That whole situation and whatnot,” ‘Sweet Dreams’ stated on his YouTube channel. Amidst this whole situation, Jamahal Hill also made some observations of his own as he insinuated that these comments from Alex Pereira’s ex-fiancee only scream the fact that ‘Poatan’ might have been right about his claims after all.

“It’s like, bro, how have you not moved on with your life from then?” Claiming that Merle Christine was just leveraging her connection to Pereira, Jamahal Hill Further added. “It’s like, bro, how have you not moved on with your life from then? Like, this was like over a year ago. Like, you can really tell whoever the plus side was in the relationship, and who is offering the other person, given more than they were being offered. Whenever it ends and they feel a need to keep trying to use their name and drag themselves back into this situation. Shawty, you need to move on and let go. That’s lame.”

From Aljamain Sterling calling Christine’s words “foul” to Jorge Masvidal calling her “evil,” there is no shortage of backing for Alex Pereira, and even he hilariously responded to his ex-fiancee. “I think she should stop mentioning my name cause her husband might get jealous, chama,” ‘Poatan’ stated after his fight last weekend. So, maybe this situation won’t be stretched more than it has already.

Meanwhile, Jamahal Hill didn’t just back him up in the situation with Merle Christine, but showered his former rival with some praise, but not for his UFC 313 performance. Here’s what the Chicago native had to say.

Jamahal Hill lauds Alex Pereira for being a good father

Unlike Conor McGregor, who went ballistic at Dustin Poirier with several personal digs following his UFC 264 loss, Jamahal Hill has chosen to keep beef with Alex Pereira strictly clean and professional. There are no personal jibes from his end, but he praises his rival for how he handles his personal life, especially his two boys. Hill claims that while people may try to add up his statistics and achievements to see if he has succeeded in his professional life or not, ‘Poatan’ has already won in life.

“The example [Pereira] has set for [his kids] is bigger than any title or fight he has ever won. Respect,” Jamahal Hill further stated. Moreover, he ended any and all rumors and speculations about him hating Alex Pereira by claiming that he doesn’t. He even issued a “challenge” to anybody who could go back to his previous interviews and prove him wrong.

Well, Alex Pereira is not worried about his former partner’s comments at all because all he wants is a rematch against Magomed Ankalaev. While it was the ground game that people were worried about, it was the Dagestani native striking that outclassed Pereira. So it will be interesting to see what adjustments the Brazilian star makes, as he mentioned in a statement after dropping the belt.
