After 54 holes, Rory McIlroy’s biggest threat to his first Masters Tournament win was Bryson DeChambeau. The two had two strokes separating them as they were paired off in the same group for the final round at Augusta National. From the tee to Holly, McIlroy triumphed but DeChambeau was left wounded. Despite the valiant effort, the LIV Golf pro managed to go 3-over par 75 in the final round to drop out of contention. Yet, he was gracious enough to mention how McIlroy “deserved to get this one.”
While all the spotlight might be on the 2025 Masters Tournament winner right now, the USGA decided to give DeChambeau some credit as well. Hours after his loss, the Crushers GC captain took a drive to Pinehurst Resort for a unique achievement. The United States Golf Association placed a plaque in honor of Bryson DeChambeau for his outstanding win in the 2024 U.S. Open.
Joe GolfTraveler shed light on the ceremony as he shared pictures from Pinehurst on X. The tweet was captioned, “Just had @brysondech at @PinehurstResort for the commemoration of his plaque by the bunker on 18,” confirming that the plaque is placed on the 18th hole.
