Green Bay Draft’s 6-Figure Milestone Stands in Detroit’s Shadows After Dan Campbell’s Lions Fired Shots

3 min read

The 2025 NFL draft saw the potential future stars. Starting from the Titans’ first overall draft pick, the first day of the draft ended with waiting for Shedeur Sanders‘s drafting. While it was big news for three days, you know what also made headlines for all? NFL insider Adam Schefter has revealed shocking numbers from the Green Bay Packers‘ Lambeau Field. But wait a minute, those shocking numbers after not about prospects, but something else.

It’s all about attendance. The attendance at the 2025 NFL draft made headlines for attracting people to Green Bay. The Lambeau Field saw 205,000 fans attending round 1, and, in total, the field saw more than 600,000 fans attending the event over three days. But here is the catch. Adam Schefter has dropped an update relating to the previous year’s NFL draft in Detroit.

Adam Schefter wrote on X/Twitter, “Total attendance over the three days was 600,000, matching Nashville, per a league official. Today’s attendance on the final day of the Green Bay draft was 220,000.” And if you remember, these numbers look small compared to people’s attendance in the 2024 NFL draft. If you check the comments below Schefter’s post, fans are praising the 2024 draft in Detroit.

In the 2024 NFL draft, more than 275,000 people attended round 1. Around 500,000 people followed it on day 2 and day 3 of the draft, making the final tally 775,000 fans, which is so far higher than the Green Bay draft. So, Green Bay’s 2025 NFL draft is nothing but the shadow of the 2024 draft in Detroit. But you know, while the Detroit fans were enjoying being the host of the most draft attendees, Dan Campbell’s team has fired a shot at Green Bay.

Dan Campbell’s Lions took a jab at Green Bay’s 2025 NFL draft

Lions President Rod Wood had expressed his views, in fact, predicted Green Bay’s 2025 NFL draft would cross Detroit’s 775,000 attendance for the 2024 draft. So, while predicting Green Bay’s attendance, the Lions’ president, Rod Wood, said, “There’s no way Green Bay will come close,” on April 21. He was talking to reporters and also added some trash talk.

Rod Wood continued, “They’ll finish second or third like they did last year.” And also took a jab directly at the Green Bay Packers instead of the Green Bay draft. While doing that, he said, “And to be quite frank with you. I kind of enjoyed beating Matt LaFleur twice a year.” If you remember, the Lions beat the Packers two times in the 2024 season.

The first time Dan Campbell’s team beat Matt LaFleur’s Packers was on November 3, 2024, with a 24-14 final score. After that, both teams again met on December 5, 2024, where Rod Wood’s team pummeled the Packers with 34-31. And as we all know, the Lions then booked the conference round but lost to Jayden Daniels‘s Commanders

In the 2025 NFL draft, the Lions have selected Ohio State DT Tyleik Williams, OL Tate Ratledge from Georgia, WR Isaac TeSlaa from Arkansas, and so on. The Lions are locked into start workouts. Let’s see how Dan Campbell leads the team in the 2025 NFL season after losing Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson.
