Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas have 9, 13, and 16 PGA Tour wins, respectively. While Koepka may not be pursuing a record on the Tour, he still has the most major wins among the three players. The LIV Golf pro boasts 5 major wins, with his latest coming in the 2023 PGA Championship, where he dethroned defending champion Justin Thomas. Spieth, still without a PGA Championship, needs it to complete his Grand Slam. Meanwhile, Thomas recently celebrated his victory at the 2025 RBC Heritage. Koepka won his last title in March 2025, and it has been over 3 years since Spieth has won anything. Despite all the evidence, an analyst believes that the LIV Golf pro is not an elite player, a list his PGA Tour peers have already made.
Patrick McDonald and Shane hosted the Golf on CBS podcast on April 23, 2025. McDonald mentioned how he came across a debate through research. “Do we wanna give Justin Thomas the best American player of his generation (title)?” The analyst confessed that there might be some recency bias around the debate. Shane mentioned how in a conversation with Andy Johnson on Monday, they debated on who among Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth was better. “I still gotta lean Spieth,” he said as he believes the Texan is a superior player to the 2025 RBC Heritage champion.
Explaining why he made that choice, Shane said, “Three different majors! JT has won a lot, but it’s two of the same majors when you look at the big events. The drought has been pretty long. The drought for Spieth has been long as well. Patrick, you know it better than me. Spieth, since 2018, has not really been much of a factor in anything. Is that fair to say?” After injuring his wrist in 2017, Jordan Spieth has failed to get results consistently. He has only two victories since then and hasn’t won a title since 2022.
Adding another player to the conversation, the CBS Sports journalist said, “(Brooks) Koepka’s run was about five years, and Brooks is a player we really don’t talk about anymore, even in the major championships as we get closer to him.” Koepka won the majority of his titles from 2015 to 2019. In the next 3 years, he won just another PGA Tour event before shifting to LIV Golf. His only victory away from the American League was the 2023 PGA Championship. However, as previously mentioned, Koepka has still won 4 tournaments in LIV Golf. Even if they are unsanctioned by official standards, he is still competing with some of the best golfers to grab those wins.

However, there is a common belief that the spotlight is not on Brooks Koepka anymore. Let’s check his recent record outside LIV Golf and also look at what the rumor mills are saying these days.
Brooks Koepka fell off the radar in 2025
Brooks Koepka secured his fifth major title at the 2023 PGA Championship, held at Oak Hill Country Club in Pittsford, New York. Since then, it’s been a bit of a bumpy ride. He failed to impress in all four majors in 2024. While he made the cut in every event, he failed to reach the top 25 of the leaderboard in any of them. Koepka’s form in the majors dipped even further at Augusta National this year. He missed the cut after two abysmal rounds of golf. Shockingly, four of his last five major appearances have seen him go over par. Only in the 2024 PGA Championship did he manage a 9-under par 275 to finish at T26.
While still finding success at LIV Golf, Koepka has fallen off the radar recently. Despite being one of the last LIV golfers to win a major, he is not considered a favorite in them in 2025. He also sits at the worst OWGR position of his career at 315th. Even in LIV, Koepka currently ranks 13th in the individual standings, indicating a slower start to the season. Although Greg Norman deserves to take the heat for that, as he made false promises of getting LIV Golf events recognized by the official men’s golf ranking system. However, recent rumors suggest that he wants to be a part of the PGA Tour again. In fact, he confessed, “I’d be open to playing certain (PGA Tour) events,” hinting that he wants to play on the Tour again. It seems that Brooks Koepka wants the spotlight again, and he is trying to find a way to get back into position for that.
