Fred Richard knows how to stay in the gymnastics spotlight! The Gymnast isn’t just competing but he’s challenging the very fabric of gymnastics. At the 2025 Winter Cup, he walked onto the floor knowing every routine would cost him. Not because of execution, but because of what he wore. No singlet. A loose tank top, pommel horse pants, and shorts. A bold move in a sport bound by 130 years of tradition. The judges docked points. The critics took note. Richard didn’t care. He finished second, but the statement was made. Now, he’s got his sights on something even bigger. Something history-making. Something that won’t come easy!
Fred Richard posted an Instagram reel on March 20, reflecting on his next big challenge. “It might be nearly impossible, but I want to break the NCAA record. After experiencing highs from the Olympics, it’s hard to feel that again, right? So you kind of look for things, but when you achieve it, you’re going to get that same high. I don’t need it, obviously. I’m still happy.”
The Olympian further added, “We host NCAAs at Michigan. We want the team to win. It’s going to be hard because I’m facing specialists. Guys that only do that at one event. But that’s what makes it thrilling. That’s what gets me the excitement again after this Olympics. I want to aim big, but NCAAs, we’re breaking that record.”
The story is developing…
