Recovering from a defeat swiftly has been a key part of Gabby Thomas’s character. In the Miami edition of the Grand Slam Track, she spoke about bringing a few changes in her strategy after facing a loss to Melissa Jefferson-Wooden. However, things didn’t change much for her in Philadelphia, the third edition of the Grand Slam Track. Gabby had to taste defeat at the hands of the same athlete, Melissa. Yet she recovered from the loss promptly again. Here’s how.

Right after the contest was over, Gabby Thomas put a long message on X. She wrote, “Not the Slam results I hoped for, but when you race as often as I do, you can’t win em all. On the bright side, this is the best I have ever ran at this at this point in the season!! I’m so so grateful to everyone who continues to support me on my journey, win or lose- rain or shine. I love this sport sm and I’ll see you guys on the track very soon!!!” That has been Gabby’s character, though, and there are some ways through which she has shaped it. Want to dive deeper to know about the ways?

Recently, in her interaction with Marie Claire, Gabby explained how she follows her rules, and she wants to teach her younger self about those processes as well. She said, “Think about wellness holistically and consider how we can thrive mentally, physically, and emotionally. As an elite sprinter, wellness encompasses all aspects of my performance: how I recover, how I fuel, how much I sleep, and how much I’m able to incorporate mindfulness and meditation into my day to day.” Being an elite athlete, those processes are needed to attain the best of herself and shed the dust of defeat. “Even if it’s just like you made a good coffee that day and you’re really excited about it, or if it’s like you got an extra minute of meditation and got a little bit more mindful that day, a little goes a long way,” she added.

The report is developing…
