From asking the right questions on the sidelines to giving the right answers to people’s dating problems, Charissa Thompson can do it all. As it turns out, giving dating advice and, to an extent, even matchmaking, is one of the many talents she possesses. After all, she and her podcasting partner Erin Andrews were credited with getting ‘America’s favorite couple’: Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift together. In today’s world, where dating can be construed as complex and confusing, Charissa has, like a messiah, stepped in to solve people’s dating problems.
Charissa, in a video shared on Instagram by the ‘Calm Down With Erin and Charissa’ podcast Instagram page, can be seen going through people’s problems and questions regarding dating and answering them. So, when a viewer sent her a question reading, “Crushing on this girl, I start most chats laying low to see if she will engage me, bad move?” She put on her ‘love guru hat’ and got to work. Talking about what she likes a man doing, she said, ” I like a guy that is going to make it very obvious that he likes me.” But hold on, there’s a way to do that, and the key is not to be annoying.
How do you do it then? Charissa, while answering the question, said, “if you’re sending, if there’s a lot of, I always say this, in a text chain, if there’s a lot of blue and there’s not a lot of the gray, we need to ease off the old gas pedal.” Talking about whether initiating texts most of the time is good and how to judge the vibe from the responses, Charissa comments, “if you’re initiating the chats, that’s fine. That shows that you’re interested. But is she just like sending you one-word responses? Is she sending you, like, you need to do something to keep the conversation and the activities like moving forward.“
While comparing people who simply keep talking on texts rather than meet up with pen pals, Charissa underscored how important it is to move away from talking to a screen and meet up in person. She also shares an important tip for the guys: MAKE THE PLAN! Sharing her thoughts on this, Charissa said, “it’s one thing to just talk. It’s another thing to be like, hey, what are you doing on Tuesday? Are you around on Thursday? Do you want to go do something? Because just like the back and forth after a while, I know the very limited time I was actually dating, I would hate it when it’d just be like pen pal. I’m like, are we doing something? Are we not doing something? Like you’re the guy, you make the plan and if I’m on board, then I’ll just come in and come up with ideas.”
Erin Andrews, too, borrowing Charissa’s hat for a moment, chimed in on the ‘initiating the chats and laying low’ situation and shared one tip about when to move on. A tip a lot of us will agree to. She said, “How long have you been starting up the chats and laying low? Because if it’s been a while, it may be time to either say, hey, what, are we good? Are we moving on? Or maybe time for you to move on.”
Talking about moving on, Charissa will, if things do not go right, have to answer one question: To move on or not to move on?
Is Charissa Thompson really making a career change?
With no new contract offered yet, the rumour mill started working about Charissa leaving FOX or FOX firing her, and soon enough, she ripped the rumours apart. The 42-year-old sportscaster, while addressing the rumours on the podcast and said, “No, I’m not leaving FOX.” “I’m not leaving FOX. I was never leaving FOX. I’m not fired,” she later added. This essentially means that she still has her hopes high, and why wouldn’t she? After all, she has been working at FOX since she was 22 when she joined the HR department. This is despite no updates regarding a new contract. At least publicly.
Even if Charissa might not be leaving FOX at this moment, she still likes to think of the future and has a retirement plan. While speaking on what she would do after leaving sportscasting, Charissa on the podcast said, “Erin and I also have an affinity for local news.” She described her retirement plans, saying, “There’s going to be a time in our lives. I hope it’s a retirement community in Florida or somewhere where they can roll us out and we can work like a couple days a week, and The Morning News can or anytime like the Evening News can you imagine?” So even if we do not get to see Charissa as a sportscaster, we’ll definitely see her on a local news station in Florida.
This being said, it will be interesting to see how the FOX contract situation goes forward, with the possibility of things going both ways existing. Meanwhile, her fans will be expecting FOX to get her another contract extension, rewarding the loyalty she has shown the broadcaster and the work she has put in for them. But one thing is for sure, even in a worst-case scenario, we can expect her to ace whatever she does, whether it be running a podcast, being a love guru, or reporting local news in Florida. She can do it all.
