They say the first win is always the hardest. It can be, but that was not the case for Justin Thomas when he triumphed in the 2025 RBC Heritage for the first time in nearly 3 years. It took 1064 days for Thomas to win on the PGA Tour again. Every minute of them was torturous for him. He may have simply said that he “missed winning”, but deep down, Thomas would have been going through hell. Just like any of his thousands and millions of fans, he is a popular player that he is. After all, they all saw him finish in the top 10 sixteen times since then. And now that the 16x PGA Tour winner has finally grabbed his first win in ages, he is hungry for more.
In an interview after the third round of the 2025 Truist Championship, Thomas was asked, “Does contending feel any different post-win, kind of having gotten the first win since 2022?”
The top-10 finish, eating Philly cheesesteak, a Floridian who celebrated his birthday just two weeks ago, said, “It’s probably not fair — or I probably can’t honestly answer today, maybe tomorrow. It didn’t today. It’s probably more of a comfort level where my game’s at and the head space I’m in, but yeah, I might be able to answer it better come tomorrow.”
You would think Justin Thomas would be more confident after finally breaking the shackles. But one thing that the past three years have taught him, it’s not over until it’s over. The Jupiter local sits tied at third, three strokes away from the top of the table. He is definitely challenging for another Signature event. The only question is, can he get two wins in a row?
This is a developing story..
