Imagine watching a TV show or a movie, lights out, popcorn and drinks at the ready. The plot is set, characters are established, and BAM! Suddenly, an NFL star pops out and your popcorn goes for a toss. It’s certainly something that’s happened a lot. Terry Bradshaw appeared in shows like Modern Family and The League and movies like Hooper and The Cannonball Run. Rob Gronkowski, Russell Wilson, Julian Edelman, and Tom Brady appeared in the feature film Entourage. The Manning brothers, Peyton, Cooper, and Eli, have been on The Simpsons. And how do we forget the legendary Apollo Creed, played by Carl Weathers, with Sylvester Stallone in the Rocky movies? And now, another NFL star has made his acting debut – Baltimore Ravens QB, Lamar Jackson.

Lamar Jackson already has accolades that could put most trophy rooms to shame. And now he brings his characteristic charisma and energy to the small screen with his debut. The two-time MVP could’ve relaxed and taken some time off this offseason. But nah, not Lamar Jackson. He made his acting debut with a cameo in an episode of Power Book III: Raising Kanan. Here, Jackson plays a dangerous character, E-Tone. Jackson had already made the announcement way back in March with an IG post. But cut to May, and the fans are shocked and amazed at his appearance.

Lamar Jackson’s debut scene has become absolutely viral as it makes rounds on the Internet. The clip features Jackson in a club, identifying a target. And later hiding in a washroom, waiting for his chance to shoot a character down. Although it’s a brief appearance, it’s nothing but powerful. The look on Jackson’s expression says it all. He means business. To the fans of Raising Kanan, this is the introduction of a deadly character, and to the fans of Jackson, this is a surprising twist from his NFL career. And needless to say, everyone is loving it all the same.

Back in March, Lamar Jackson’s IG post revealed this character to the world. The post read, “I’m so excited for fans to see me in this new role and thrilled to be a part of ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan.’ My Character, E-Tone is a deadly, dangerous character – you don’t want to get on his bad side.” With everything going around the NFL with the off-season and the drafts, it seems like people had forgotten all about it until they saw the episode on May 9th. And the fans? Well, they received quite the shock.

Lamar Jackson’s TV debut catches fans off-guard

Presented by Starz, the season 4 of Power Book III: Raising Kanan was set to debut on March 7, Friday. As E-Tone made his appearance on the small screen on 9th May, it was the beginning of Lamar’s acting career. And the fans could hardly contain their excitement. One fan was surprised as he wrote, “Wait was that Lamar Jackson on #RaisingKanan” while others also couldn’t help being shocked as they wrote, “what’s lamar jackson doing in raisin kanan” and “Why is Lamar Jackson walking around with a suppressor on this show LMFAOOOOO”. Another praised Jackson’s acting and claimed, “I smell an Emmy!”

Produced by Sascha Penn and directed by Mario Van Peebles, Raising Kanan has already amassed a grand following. Now with Lamar Jackson in the mix, there’s even more star-power in the series. Jackson only had a few lines in his debut, but it was still impactful. As one fan noted, “Lamar Jackson has 2 lines in Power and I still loved it lol”. Another noted his dangerous role and said, “RAISING KANAN GOT LAMAR JACKSON SLANGING IRON” while another added, “They got Lamar jackson acting like the reaper #RaisingKanan”.

But one comment stole the spotlight with its hilarious take, “I know they wouldn’t do this but how funny would it be if the dude was like “oh sh*t are you Lamar Jackson?” right before he gets popped ”

With fans loving his appearance, fans are excited to see more of E-Tone as the show progresses. One fan keeps it simple as he writes, “Okay, I’m gonna say it. He’s legit good.” One person even drew a parallel to his NFL plays and said, “What Lamar Demeatrice Jackson is going to do to defences this fall”. But will we only see Lamar Jackson in this show or will there be more?

Well, Lamar was asked this very question recently, and his answer gives us hope. Jackson said, “Oh, definitely, – I definitely can do it after the NFL, definitely. I can do it during the NFL off-season [too], you know what I mean? But for sure, post-NFL, definitely.” So there you have it, folks. Once Jackson retires from the NFL, that won’t be the end of it. But rather, that will be the continuation of his now blooming acting career.
