The weekend wasn’t going to go by without its fair share of excitement. It started as reports leaked that Aaron Rodgers visited the Steelers facility and spent 6 hours with their HC, Mike Tomlin and OC Arthur Smith. Earlier, the NY Giants were patiently waiting for his response. But they got it the hard way. It was a signal to move on. They used plain common sense to strengthen their QB room by signing 31-year-old Jameis Winston. That’s the backup they needed.
It was a smart bargain as well. To make sure they had the space in the future for a franchise QB draft or if another superstar wants to come there, they have signed only a 2-year $8 million deal. It can go up to $16 million with incentives. That leaves plenty of space to bring in more talent. According to Over the Cap, the Giants had $17.2 million in cap space. So, their choice was quite alright.
Even the former Browns quarterback was over the moon. He also requested the fans to celebrate the moment and tweeted, “Start spreading the neWs ” And they will. It’s a good signing.

Jameis Winston proved to be an average signal caller for the Browns in 2024. He played 12 games (7 starters) last year and had a 2-5 record with a 61% completion rate, 2,121 passing yards, 13 TDs, and 12 interceptions. But he has a decade of experience in the league. That’s invaluable. Plus, he is also a decade younger than Aaron Rodgers, 41 years old.
No one can deny the role of these things in the selection. But it was more by A-Rod, who isn’t even speaking about his options. But the Big Blue fanbase is happy. Jameis Winston is a chill guy. Everyone laughed when he went to the Super Bowl LIX with a mic in his hand, as a reporter. There, former Giant Saquon Barkley even asked him to apply to New York. Barkley was half-joking, having been allowed to walk over money talks. But that has indeed come to pass. Winston has the fun vibe they need while carrying out serious business.
Fans are excited. They also have one particular observation about this move. It will help the current Giants WR, Malik Nabers.
Fans repeat one thing for Jameis Winston
The first-round pick (6th overall) of the 2024 draft, WR Malik Nabers, emerged as a force in the league. He broke records after records. It started with the most receptions by a WR in a rookie season (109) and the fastest to reach 100 receptions (tied with Odell Beckham Jr.). So, fans are excited to watch the QB-WR duo in action.
One fan wrote, “Welcome to the Giants! Can’t wait to see you and Nabers connect early and often—maybe even prove the doubters wrong. Time to get to work. Godspeed, and let’s go Big Blue!” They want to see both players in action, decimating their rivals. It would be exciting.

Another fan confirmed that the Giants’ locker room had reason to be excited. He mentioned the wave of change in the G-Men enterprise and tweeted, “The hero Malik Nabers needed…for fantasy football.” Another supporter echoed the same sentiment as he mentioned, “Winston to Nabers baby.”
It’s a blessing in disguise for Jameis Winston also, as he can team up with the lethal receiver. In 15 games (13 starters) in 2024, Nabers had 109 receptions in 1,204 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. The new QB-WR pairing could spell even more success. One supporter predicted a massive year incoming and wrote, “Nabers going for 2100 yards this year, we up!”
It’s the sea of excitement in the New York franchise. That’s what forced one man to welcome the decade old veteran, “Big bro in New York. Gonna take OVER.” Overall, it’s a great time. Now, everyone wants to see their next move!
