Everyone Is Saying 1 Thing About Joe Rogan’s ‘Motivational’ Secret as Battle to Inspire the Mass Continues

4 min read

“When something is wrong and it’s going bad, you always just look at me and say ‘Good.’” This is what retired Navy SEAL Officer John “Jocko” Willink Jr. said nine years ago on the trailer of his podcast. Willink, of course, is a revered figure in the combat sports and social commentary scene. From the stories of his time serving in Iraq as a former Seal Team 3 member to his gruelling workout regimens, Jocko Willink is a prime fixture in the world of self-help for men, and motivational circles. But why is the Echelon Front founder’s words relevant now?

It’s because our very own UFC colour commentator Joe Rogan decided to resurface the video and post it on his X  profile. Joe Rogan has invited several famous people from different industries to his world-famous podcast. And one of them is Willink, who has surprisingly appeared multiple times: he has been on episodes #729, #962, #1492, and #1740 of the JRE. They have spoken about various things, from leadership, BJJ, the USA’s political scenario, and also their support for Dwayne Johnson as the president!

Meanwhile, Willink has his own podcast, called the Jocko Podcast, where he focuses on guiding leadership codes that he learned as the Commander of the SEAL team, Task Unit Bruiser. One of Jocko Willink’s inspirational excerpts is from his 3rd podcast episode where he made the now-infamous “GOOD” speech.

Joe Rogan—someone who echoes the same talking points as Willink on many issues—looks up to these motivational words and wants to share them with the American audience. He posted the 9-year-old video on X and said, “The best motivation video ever made. “GOOD” by the great and powerful @jockowillink.”

The word ‘GOOD’ has become his brand of sorts and is even imprinted on the merchandise he sells, with T-shirts and mugs at the official store by Willink! Rogan is a fan of the author of Extreme Ownership and his fellow podcaster. And how did fans react to Rogan sharing the clip from the Jocko Podcast? Well, it more or less seems like they got the message Rogan and Willink were trying to convey.

Fans react to Joe Rogan sharing Jocko Willink’s motivational talk

After Rogan shared the snippet of the video from 9 years ago, fans wrote things like, “You’ve always been motivational, Joe,” and “I get fired up every time I watch this video. Thank you, Joe.” Interestingly, this is not the first time that the UFC color commentator has spoken about this video. In one of his podcast episodes, Rogan talked about this video, where he declared that whenever he was mentally tired, he would listen to this particular video. Self-help content creator and author known for the Top 10 Rules series on YouTube, Evan Carmichael, shared the snippet on his Instagram profile as well.

Another follower said, “I’ll have to check it out, haven’t seen it.” Well, spoiler alert, the retired Navy SEAL explained that whenever something in life is not working out and everything is failing, it’s ‘Good’.

“Got injured? Good… Needed a break from training. Got tapped out? Good… It’s better to tap out in training than tap out on the street. Got beat? Good… We learned. Unexpected problems? Good… We have to figure out solutions.”, is his philosophy. His philosophy is that whenever something bad happens or things don’t go our way, something good is going to come out of it.

One follower said, “Motivation game strong, let’s get that bread.” Another chimed in, “Not just motivation. This is Operator gospel. The kind of mindset you need when the feed breaks, the lights glitch, and the simulation starts whispering your name. Good isn’t a word. It’s a frequency password. Unlocks the next tier every time.”

It seems true because when you hear the words, “you’ve still got some fight left in you,” it lights a different kind of fire inside you. One follower wrote, “I will have to rewatch it, didn’t take anything from it the first time I saw it.”
