Everyone Agrees About Paige Bueckers’ Questionable Outfit for Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon

5 min read

Come March Madness, Jimmy Fallon is ready with his signature zingers.“Tomorrow is the first round of March Madness,” he teased earlier this year. “Yeah, but this year will be a little different. If you see a car flipped over, it’s either fans celebrating their school or people protesting Elon Musk, so just be careful. One of the two.” And now, just weeks later, the trophy visited the “The Tonight Show,” thanks to Paige Bueckers. But on the roasting side this time around, were the fans.

Bueckers is officially in the Big Apple. Yes, the UConn superstar is continuing her national title victory lap with a guest appearance on Fallon’s late-night stage.

It’s safe to say Bueckers has been all over the media since cutting down the nets. But she’s earned every spotlight. After battling through injuries and setbacks, the star guard returned stronger, leading the Huskies to their first national championship in nearly a decade.

Geno Auriemma’s squad dominated the reigning champions twice in one season to put an end to their back-to-back title hopes.

Of course, fans had their own take on what made the Huskies unstoppable. Some joked that they won “because of the power of friendship.” But here’s the kicker—Paige didn’t deny it.

“I saw on social media, they were saying UConn won based on the power of friendship. It’s so accurate,” she said. “Just how much we love each other, how much we’re connected, how much we’ve been through as individuals, as a team, and how much it has bonded us and helped us become national champions. So I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

But make no mistake—this was no fluke championship. The Huskies went 37-3, were undefeated in 18 conference games, and closed the season on a 16-game winning streak. Now, with the WNBA Draft just days away, Paige Bueckers is projected to go No. 1 overall. The next chapter is calling. But before she officially turns pro, she’s taking one final lap in style—on Fallon’s couch, trophy smile and all.

Everything about this moment feels right: the champion, the city, the late-night stage. But there’s just one thing that’s catching fans a little off guard.

Fans call out for a fit that didn’t fit!

The moment Paige Bueckers’ post-championship appearance hit social media, fans were quick to celebrate her glow. However, just as quickly, they flocked to the comment section to point out one thing. “the fit”. “dk man some of yall are dtm cause I lowkey mess with it, one spectator shared, clearly torn between fashion norms and Paige’s bold style. And what exactly was this buzzworthy look?

It was a black and grey checkered shirt, studded with sparkling diamond accents, paired with camouflage pants. Bold? Absolutely. Safe? Not so sure. “Ummmm what is she wearing,” another chimed in.

To a few, it was more than just an outfit—it was very Paige. But not everyone was on the same page. “Man idk if it was p or Brittany who chose that outfit but I hope they stay off Twitter tonight,” someone added. When it comes to Bueckers’ standout looks, credit often goes to stylist Brittany Hampton. Bueckers once revealed that she loves working with Hampton because they genuinely get each other. “She knows what I like, what I don’t like,” Paige shared in a past interview. Hampton doesn’t just curate looks, “She knows what boundaries to push,” Bueckers said, adding that Hampton also gives her space to veto any looks that don’t feel quite right.

So, was this outfit a miss? Maybe for some. Fire your stylist, GOAT,” commented another. Well, Bueckers has had her moments. Flashback to last September, her New York Fashion Week snaps turned heads for all the right reasons. “She’s a whole supermodel,” wrote Minnesota Lynx star Dorka Juhász under one of the photos. That summer, Bueckers hit a high note in fashion, making her NYFW debut, attending the US Open in top-tier glam, and showing that her style game was every bit as strong as her basketball one.

But off the court? Paige keeps it real.

While her fans may be used to luxury looks, she told Vogue she dresses way more low-key for college classes. “A good crop top, jacket, and pant outfit” is her go-to, she said, though she often shows up in a “sweatshirt and sweatpants duo.” Bueckers described her overall fashion sense as a blend of “masculine and feminine elements.” Though tonight’s fit was a good execution of that, it just wasn’t an usual sight for some. “That outfit is giving me vertigo. Please get her a stylist,” one read.

Whether you’re all in or a bit confused, Paige Bueckers’ fashion moments get people talking.
