Even the greatest make mistakes. In November, the Warriors had a close call with the Celtics and Stephen Curry faced the brunt of all the criticism – despite scoring 27 points. Reason? His multiple turnovers early in the game that nearly cost the team. A frustrated Steve Kerr had an animated reaction to it as he was seen yelling at the four-time champion. After the game, the head coach said, “The beauty with Steph is he lets me yell at him, which sets the tone for the rest of the team. It was a five-point swing. He accepted it. He knew it.”
Even Draymond Green got caught in the crossfire, as Kerr added, “Boston shot 20 more 3s than we did in the second half. So, it’s tough to win if you are giving away possessions. I’ve been all over Steph and Draymond.” Obviously, being the OGs on the team, its Steph and Green’s job to lead by example and Kerr has every right to call them out when they don’t. Well, the superstar duo could face the same consequences tonight!
That’s because the Nuggets came into their home court and casually snapped their seven-game winning streak. Although Nikola Jokic and Co. deserve a lot of credit, the blame also fell on Steph and Draymond, who committed a combined eleven turnovers, failing to protect the ball despite being primary playmakers.

Sure enough, Kerr was disappointed, and ESPN announcers highlighted his emotions live on air toward the end of the game, “Steve Kerr clearly not happy with the way his team came out. They’ve been playing catch up almost the entire game. They’ve made couple of great runs here in the fourth, but the Nuggets have had an answer for every single one.” It is likely that Draymond and Steph will get an earful from the head coach following the brutal loss.
After all, Kerr has high expectations from them, as he said in November, “It’s incumbent upon them because they are our leaders and they’re the guys who handle the ball most. They gotta cut back on their bad decisions like that.” With the leaders lacking, the rest of the team followed suit, as the Warriors combined for a total of 20 turnovers. Maybe, some of it had to do with how the game was officiated, and Draymond even confronted the officials about it!
Draymond Green caught yelling at NBA Refs during Embarrassing loss against Nuggets
Well, it all started in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter when the Nuggets were called for a 24-second violation after what seemed to be an air ball from Jalen Pickett. The visitors immediately began complaining about the call, claiming that the shot grazed the rim, thus restarting the shot clock. Upon review, the officials recognized their mistake and overturned their initial call, giving the possession to the Nuggets. But Draymond was not pleased with the decision.
He was spotted arguing with the referee. Even on-air announcer Richard Jefferson called him out, “Draymond, you can’t be mad at every call Draymond. They didn’t even call a foul on you, big fella.” As the play continued, the Warriors stopped the Nuggets from scoring and initiated offense. On the other end, Butler drove to the basket and drew a foul on Spencer Jones. While he went to the charity stripes, Draymond was still stuck on the previous play as he could be heard yelling at the officials in the background during Butler’s free-throw routine.
It clearly shows the Warriors’ frustration during tonight’s encounter with the Denver team. Although Curry and Draymond might face harsh consequences after tonight’s disappointing performance, they might not mind getting yelled at by Kerr. “It’s a mindset that, one, I want to be coached just like everyone else. I don’t get sensitive about getting yelled at if you make a dumb play.” Steph said in November. Maybe, Steph and Draymond’s ability to accept their mistakes and improve is what makes them so great. And hopefully, they will come out more prepared in the next game and start another winning streak for the Warriors.
