Well, it’s the offseason, and there’s not much to do right now. No Touchdowns. No gravity defying catches. Nothing related to the gridiron at least. Like Sundays could get a bit boring, right? Without your favorite team playing and giving you a headache. See, for a fan, it’s understandable. They have to wait for a few months to feel that adrenaline rush again. But what about the ones whose bread and butter comes from the game? People like Charissa Thompson who literally don’t have anything to do right now because there ain’t no FOX gamedays (Probably never will). So, Thompson had something figured out herself to spend some leisure time. She thought, wouldn’t it be great to go on a date? Sounds lovely, right? But trust me, once you know who her partner was you will be like Awww that’s so Pawdorable.
A few hours ago, Charissa shared a couple of snaps, probably from her home. Going through them, it looked like she was preparing for a long reading session. But suddenly someone popped up in one of her snaps and caught our attention. Thompson’s Siberian Husky Willis was also there to give her company. So, the Fox sportscaster thought, why not ditch the books and connect with Willis instead? Her next story had Willis sleeping on his bed while Thompson wrote, “Mother & son date at the lake.” Well, her next couple of pictures showcased how Willis and Thompson enjoyed their day together surrounded by mother nature instead of hundreds of pages.
They were off to the nearby lake where Thompson had her black shades on while Willis accompanied her on paws. One of her stories also captured Willis on the edge of this lake. As Charissa wrote, “Willis and I crushing the nature walk.” I mean, dogs do love going out on a walk with their owners. And Willis, for one, went on a date, so that’s a win. Or, as Willis could say, Pawtastic. But this is nothing new, Thompson never shies away from spending some time with dogs.

When devastating LA wildfires broke out, Thompson even used her ranch as a dog rescue shelter. She wrote on her IG stories at that time, “Please DM me if you know animals that need temp homes.” Like she was not leaving any stone unturned to save as many animals as she could from the blaze. Truly remarkable for someone whose future looks a bit unclear. FOX audience on game days may not witness Thompson on the sidelines or during pre-game coverage next season. Her FOX contract is up, so what’s next for her?

After the Super Bowl LIX, both Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson’s contract with FOX came to an end. There’s a huge possibility that two of the cornerstones of FOX NFL coverage may not return come 2025. So, there should be some future plans, right? Like you can’t just hope FOX will come running with a new contract. Of course, both of them were with the network for decades. Still, you never know what FOX top bosses are planning. That’s why Andrews and Thompson kind of gave us a teaser of what’s next for them.

Speaking from their Calm Down podcast, Thompson said, “Erin and I also have an affinity for local news. There’s going to be a time in our lives. I hope it’s a retirement community in Florida or somewhere where they can roll us out and we can work like a couple days a week, in the Morning News or anytime like the Evening News. Can you imagine?” This might be a joke, but deep down, we really don’t want the Fox besties to move on, at least for now. After their record-breaking Super Bowl numbers, of course, they have more to offer.
As Andrews put it, “I really hope I’m still employed by Fox when Fox gets a Vegas Super Bowl.” She was talking about the next time FOX will get the broadcasting rights to the Super Bowl, which means in 2029. Although the place hasn’t been confirmed, there’s no punishment for manifesting, right? And I, for one, am manifesting Andrews’ wish to come true. Hopefully FOX will come up with a way of keeping these sportscasters for as long as they can.
