TCU’s magical run to the Elite Eight ended with a 58-47 loss to instate foe Texas. Hailey Van Lith had 17 points to go with 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. She went just 3 of 15 from the field but 10 of 11 from the free-throw line, drawing eight fouls. She played in a record fifth career Elite Eight for her third school after helping to lead Louisville and LSU previously. Now, as she looks to turn the page over her WNBA career, HVL thanked Coach Mark Campbell for the impact.

“I mean, yeah it is hard for me to put into words, but um my relationship with coach Mark has been just a joy for me. I’m sure I gave him a lot of headaches throughout the year, but um you know, he just accepted me for who I was.” A very emotional Hailey Van Lith said in the press conference. After the game ended the TCU’s hopes, coach Campbell hugged his star guard after her final collegiate game.

The 23-year-old was on the verge of tears as he continued to praise the positives about the Horned Frogs HC. “But like he took a risk on me um and he met me with full belief, and he had a vision of who he thought I could be. And at the beginning he probably was convincing me that I could be that person. I wasn’t necessarily in a place where I even knew what who I was anymore. So he has just breathed life into me…

This is a developing story…
