“@zayawade What I’m proudest of most is Zaya has maintained a 4.0 gpa for her entire life” – an impressive achievement to say the least. The father-daughter duo is close to each other and the pair launched the Translatable project which helps young people by creating a safer LGBTQIA+ community. D-Wade is a co-founder of the project and an activist for trans rights. And even Zaya’s stepmom is proud of her achievements, but she also shared some concerns that come with popularity.

Dwyane Wade’s wife opens up about the “scary” feeling

At the age of 12, Zaya Wade came out as Trans and since then the family has been one of her biggest supporters. Which also includes stepmom Gabrielle Union, who spoke on The Daily Show with Desi Lydic, about her daughter’s impact. “It’s scary, and I am in awe constantly of her bravery.”

The way she stands up for herself and the way she fights just as hard as anyone else whose liberty, whose very existence, whose very humanity is at risk.” The Bring it On star continued, “She puts it all on the line; she is ten toes down, and she doesn’t back off for anybody. It doesn’t matter if you hold the highest seat in you know in our country or you’re Elon Musk.” Amongst all this Gabrielle Union is also proud of how her daughter never gives up!

She’s a fighter, and so I’m proud I raised fighter, and I’m happy about that.” To support the 17-year-old, the family moved from Florida to California to provide a safe space for their daughter. Even Zaya shared how Union provided key advice that, at first, she did not understand. But as she later understood, her stepmom’s words ultimately shaped her perspective.

Parents play an important role in shaping the foundation for their kids. It’s true in Zaya Wade’s case, as her parents not only support her but also proudly flaunt her achievements!
