“Knock knock Gervonta Davis,” That’s what Keyshawn Davis boldly said after winning his first WBO World Lightweight title with a 4th-round stoppage over Denys Berinchyk. This was on the Valentine’s Fight Night at MSG Theater in New York. But before he even gets a chance to knock on Tank’s door, someone else is knocking on his. And this challenger? He might be Keyshawn’s toughest test yet.
Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis is riding high with a perfect 13-0 record, 9 of those wins coming by knockout. But now, another undefeated fighter with the exact same record is stepping up—except this guy has even more knockout power. Meet Emiliano Vargas.
Fresh off a brutal 2nd-round KO over Giovannie Gonzalez, El General is soaking up the spotlight after delivering a highlight-reel left hook that left fans buzzing. Additionally, after his win in Fontainebleau Las Vegas, the 20-year-old sat down with reporters alongside his father, boxing legend Fernando Vargas, to talk about what’s next. One thing was clear—Emiliano isn’t just here to participate in the boxing w0rld, he’s here to take over.
So, the question is—will we see Keyshawn Davis vs. Emiliano Vargas before either of them gets a shot at Gervonta? Because if this fight happens, someone’s undefeated record has to go.
Emiliano Vargas’ confident he can take down Keyshawn Davis
Yesterday, Sean Zittel shared a post on X. The father-son duo were in conversation with the media. When asked whether Emiliano is ready for a fight with Davis right now, Fernando Vargas didn’t give a biased answer. Instead, he left it up to the experts at Top Rank, saying, “The thing is that Emiliano is a future superstar in the making. So hey, it’s going to come when it’s going to come. And he’s going to be ready for it when it comes.” In other words, no need to rush—he’s sure his son’s time is coming.
Then came the social media talk. A reporter brought up Emiliano’s recent comments about Keyshawn Davis, pointing out that not everyone took them well. However, Emiliano didn’t shy away from the discussion. He explained that people only focused on the most controversial part of the interview while ignoring the full picture.
“I gave him his flowers. He’s a champion, right?” he said. But at the same time, Emiliano isn’t afraid to throw a little heat back if someone’s talking trash about him. “I’m not a sh-t talker,” he clarified. “I just say things how it is, but if you wanna criticize me, I’ll criticize you.” That said, Emiliano made it clear he respects Keyshawn Davis as a fighter. “He’s a very great fighter,” he admitted. Then he added on saying, “I think I can beat him when the time is right.”
“You wanna talk mess, I’ll talk mess back. I gave him (Keyshawn Davis) his flowers, he became a world champ. I’m not a shit talker…he’s a great fighter. I think I beat him when the time is right. I’m only 20 years old.”

At just 20, Emiliano Vargas sees himself on a different timeline than other top fighters. “All these world champions and all these other fighters, they’re all 27,28,30, so I’m doing a phenomenal job,” he stated. He’s not worried about anyone else’s career path. “I’m not looking at anybody else’s race or career. Because I know I have something special, and people wanna see me fight,” he clarified confidently.
The crowd turnout speaks for itself. “At the end of the day, it was sold out tonight,” he said. “They just put me early. I’m not a champion yet. So I’ll be fighting later on live on ESPN when the time comes.” For now, he’s building his resume and waiting for the big moments. But one thing is certain—Emiliano Vargas believes he’s a superstar in the making. And with the way he talks, he’s ready to prove it.
However, it’s clear that for Emiliano Vargas, securing a match with Keyshawn Davis might be hard, given the fact that both fighters are signed with Top Rank. But do you think Keyshawn Davis wants the fight too? Oh, yes he does. and he made sure the world knows about it, too.
Keyshawn Davis calls out Vargas Father-Son Duo
The newly crowned WBO World Lightweight champ went off on social media after watching the praise pour in for Emiliano Vargas following his knockout win over Larry Fryers last year. Emiliano’s fifth-round stoppage on ESPN’s Top Rank card in Glendale, Arizona, had everyone talking—including ESPN commentators Bernard Osuna, Tim Bradley, and Mark Kriegel, who couldn’t stop raving about the young prospect’s performance. And that really set Keyshawn off.
Keyshawn Davis felt like the Oxnard native was getting way more love from ESPN than he ever had. The way he saw it, if he had the same level of talent as Vargas, ESPN would be hyping him up just as much. So, what did he do? He went full throttle.
“I will beat all of their [backsides] on the same night, including the father,” Davis fired off on social media. He doubled down, saying, “Tell them to set it up. I will go from the father [Fernando Vargas] to the youngest brother [Emiliano] on the same night. Tell Top Rank to set it up. I ain’t even playing. I got eyes on y’all,” Keyshawn Davis announced.
Now, Keyshawn Davis clearly wasn’t letting that go. But will Top Rank actually set it up? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
