Looks like Patrick Mahomes is back from his Disneyland trip. His wife shared photos of the family enjoying their outing. But now he’s back—and guess what the QB is up to? He’s diving deep into his childhood passions. Growing up, the “Grim Reaper” played baseball and football, but he also dabbled in basketball, which sparked a love for all sports.
Meanwhile, two back-to-back semifinal games were held in the NCAA Tournament. The first was Florida Gators vs. Auburn. The second, which the Chiefs star was watching, was Duke vs. the Houston Cougars.
The Cougars gave Duke some trouble early on. But freshmen Kon Knueppel and Cooper Flagg helped the team take a halftime lead by 34-28. The game became interesting in the last 8 minutes. Cougars were trailing Duke by 14 points and went on a 10-0 spree before Flagg scored a 3-pointer with 3 minutes remaining. They overcame the rival defense and finished the game with 70-67.
Patrick Mahomes was watching the game. Just like millions of the fans, he was also cheering for Duke. But the ending shocker was just too much to handle. He couldn’t contain his feelings and posted a 1-word message: “Crazy!!” It’s a historic moment for the Cougars as they will play for the national championship for the first time since 1983-1984.
Crazy!!

The QB shares a long, lovely relationship with Duke Basketball. Last year, former Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski praised the signal caller for his sporting abilities. He even said that the Chiefs’ player would have been an elite point guard if he ever played basketball. They often share hilarious exchanges on social media, too.
Basketball has been his favorite pastime in the offseason. He was hyping up his alums a few days ago.

When a young Mahomes arrived at Texas Tech, he had big dreams in his eyes. The college program helped prepare him for the ultra-competitive world of professional sports. So, when he made it big in the NFL, he gave back—investing $5 million to support rising athletes even before signing a NIL deal with Adidas.

A few days ago, when the Red Raiders defeated Arkansas, Mahomes couldn’t contain his excitement and shared an Instagram story. It only had three words to show his love for the team: “You already know! @texastechmbb.” But the joy was short-lived. Just two days later, on March 29, they lost the Elite Eight game to the Gators.
He takes pride in calling his team “the toughest team.” And most of his tweets are hyping his team after their wins. However, with the loss, Texas Tech is officially out of the national championship race this year. Still, Mahomes had a special moment off the court. After his NIL deal, he saw his own logo on the Texas Tech jersey—a moment that brought him to tears.
“Seeing my own logo on the Texas Tech uniform I put so much blood, sweat, and tears into is one of the most meaningful off-field accomplishments of my career,” he said. Now, he’s drawing inspiration from moments like these to refocus and channel that energy back onto the football field.
