Draymond Green Turns Disappointment Into Romantic Escape With Wife Hazel Renee After Failing to Fulfill Career Promise

This season was a weird one for the Dub Nation. They would’ve fully taken a playoffs appearance after languishing in 11th mid-season. Jimmy Butler’s trade changed a lot, on and off the court. But it’d be disappointing after having a free flowing attack, eyeing a win from the get-go. For now, they look to a strong off-season, which starts with taking their minds off the season. And the first to take that step was Draymond Green.

Dray’s wife Hazel Renee posted an Instagram story of a cute little date night they had earlier tonight at Dray’s restaurant, Meski. “LITTLE DATE NIGHT CON MI AMOR @MONEY23GREEN” she titled the story, showcasing some appetizing drinks in the process. Who wouldn’t want to be in his position, especially after a tough series?

His decision to stick to an Ethiopian-Dominican theme really paid off, as Andscape called it “one of the toughest places to get a dinner reservation in the San Francisco Bay Area.” Dreen co-owns the restaurant with Guma Fassil and Nelson German. He’s often seen signing autographs and taking pictures with the Dub Nation, and occasionally, enjoying a date night with the missus.

“It’s great… I have a bunch of pride in it. I know better than to involve myself in the weeds of the business that you’re not in daily. It’s undermining Guma, chef Nelson [German] and Brandon [Davis], our general manager. It’s undermining their expertise. I give critiques as a customer. ‘I see X, Y and Z.’ But it’s our spot and I approach it that way,” Green told Anscape about his venture.

You can just see how badly he wanted such a night, after he was seen reposting the story with a “.” It’s really not been a season short of drama and controversy for Draymond Green. But their season just seems worse after his mid-season promises of an 8th championship to the Dub Nation.

Draymond Green’s promises of a championship go in vain

During the 2025 All-Star weekend, the Warriors had risen to 6th in the league. It’s good considering their mid-season troubles and inconsistencies. But then Green said this: “We are going to win the Championship.” He then proceeded to get a whirlwind of skepticism around himself. The confidence was admirable, and to be fair to him, they did look like it towards the end of the season. But what proceeded to happen was something he’d not have envisioned.

First came the play-ins, where they dominated the Grizzlies 121-116. A no-sweat contest for a lineup full of experience and gravitas. In the first round, an ageing Golden State faced the young and hungry Rockets team. The topsy-turvy series eventually ended in a 4-3 win for the Warriors, which gave them all the confidence to believe in Dray’s championship hopes. Of course, then came the king slayers – the Timberwolves. Fresh off eating the flesh off the Lakers, they gave the same fate to the Warriors, winning 4-1 and qualifying to the WCF for the second season in a row.

The Warriors didn’t live upto Draymond Green’s promise. But there are a lot more promises that ended up paying off for the Dub Nation. They now have a fun off-season to look forward to, just like Dray and Hazel kicking back.
