4 min read

LIV golfer Phil Mickelson, has never been away from the headlines, whether for his performance or his unique social media take on backing the PIF league. Mickelson recently launched a new social media series inspired by Bryson DeChambeau. The videos feature him with prominent names. However, there’s a twist. His recent collaboration with big names has showcased a different side of the veteran golfer.

A recent video of the golfer showcased him sharing a course in a 2v2 match with John Daly. Before that, he paired up with the famous golf YouTuber, Grant Horvat to take on Dustin Johnson and his brother, Austin Johnson. The deadly combo of the Johnson brothers could have taken the win easily. Well, that’s if Mickelson had picked someone else. However, that wasn’t the case. HyFlyer’s captain teamed up with Grant Horvat, which made all the difference in the results. Also, it is noteworthy that the golf influencer recently won the Creator Classic title too.

Despite the underdogs, Mickelson and Horvat delivered a strong performance, leading 2-0. After forming a bond on the course, Horvat shared off-course insights with Dan Rapaport on the Golf podcast. Dan asked about his experience of playing with the many professionals, “How has that helped your golf game?” Responding to this, Horvat explained how his relationship dynamics have changed after he got to know the professionals of the industry.

Moving on he also praised Phil Mickelson. Horvat said, “Playing with Phil it’s definitely helped my mental game for sure.” And this isn’t the first time people have praised Mickelson for his mental game. The credit goes to his persistence. Many suggest he has never missed a practice session. Even if he is not participating, he plays a minimum of two rounds each day. Not just playing, but having tournament-level focus to keep his strong mental game sharp.

Additionally, Horvat talked about the influence of the American professional. He shared how Mickelson has helped him in dealing with tough situations. Even for the matchup with Dustin-Austin Johnson, Horvat was pumped up as he shared, “I was fired up like that was my Super Bowl, you known it was our first 2v2 and I didn’t want to let Phil down that was the biggest thing with this 2v2 series. I don’t want to let Phil down. I’m scared to you know, I was just like we need to start winning.”

Well, despite Horvat’s worries, the duo did great and is leading with 2-0. Despite his fear of letting Mickelson down, he also remembered to praise the golfer’s skills and smart club selection. He shared how Mickelson’s picks work wonders during intense weather conditions and how that helped his game.

This is another praise that the golfer has earned from social media sensations, as earlier he earned it from the panel of the Fore Play Podcast for his ongoing performance.

Phil Mickelson praised for Masters run

Mickelson has seen a performance drop since he switched to LIV Golf. However, with his 2025 season, the story has just been different. The golfer’s recent podium finish at the Hong Kong event displayed improvement in his form. Looking at his scorecard, apart from his third-place finish, there was another interesting fact which was his constant birdies. He had 7 birdies in each round of LIV Hong Kong.

Even at the Fore Play Podcast, Trent Ryan and Samuel Riggs praised Mickelson. His strong on-course finishes, along with his off-course engagement, left a great impression on the entire golf world. Keeping that in mind, Ryan said, “Phil is Phil. He’s one of the most interesting guys to ever pick up a golf club both on and off the golf course, so I want him involved for as long as he can be involved cuz he’s just fu___ing interesting.”

Away from his illustrious career of 57 professional wins, the golfer is active on social media. Now with his new series and interactive posts, he is earning praise from several enthusiasts. Even his 2v2 matchups with top names are garnering millions of views. A recent video on Instagram with John Daly has crossed more than 1.2 million views and continues to increase.
