‘Don’t Be an A–Hole’: Paige Spiranac Delivers a Blunt Message After Calling Out Slow Play on the PGA Tour

4 min read

Who teaches golf etiquette? Well, there isn’t anyone specifically to teach it, but the responsible ex-LPGA star and golf influencer has seemed to take it up on her shoulders. The 31-year-old Paige Spiranac has been a renowned personality on social media with over 3.7 million followers on Instagram and just a little less than a million on X.

Even having the expertise of professional golf with one win in her career, she is now aiming to improve the overall experience of golf. Earlier she has been vocal about the issues that the league has struggled with, be it slow play or taking the side of the less-known professional golfers. For the slow play issue, she even said in her recent post, “No one needs more than 40 seconds. In other sports, you have an allotted amount of time, and if you exceed that time limit, you are instantly penalized, and that shouldn’t happen in golf. It is cheating, and it is unbelievably disrespectful to every single person in your group and on the golf course.”

However, now it seems the golfer is on a new mission. She, with her recently started series on social media, has a unique yet very effective aim to share with the golf world. With her recent post on X, she was seen sharing the harsh reality of golf course etiquettes with her ‘Smokin Hot Take.’

Talking about the issue in the video, she started off by saying, “I may not own a polo, but I do know how to care for a golf course.” Continuing further, she expressed frustration citing multiple situations on and off the course, including a shopping cart left idle at the grocery store, a stacked bin at airport security, and an unfilled divot or ball mark at the course.

Moving forward in the video, Spiranac pointed out how the ground crew worked hard to keep the course in pristine condition. Even further, she said, “The least you can do is fill your divot and fix your ball mark. And with pace of play, we know that you have time to not only fix one, but 10 more.” Not only this, she continued with her warning, saying, “So remember that, and don’t be an asshole. Caring for the golf course is not only good for you, it’s good for everyone on the golf course and the grounds crew. Do your part.”

Being a personality known by millions of people, she has been delivering some great learning to everyone. Even the fans are loving the way she is taking up the issue. Not only this, but her announcement about the Smokin Hot Golf was even loved by the fans where she addressed what she would talk about.

Paige Spiranac’s new series to talk about golf

The issue in golf is a topic of talk among the fans, but there isn’t a dedicated forum or place where it can be discussed. While everyone struggled with the issue, the ex-professional started a new series to talk more about golf. Sharing the details about it on X, she posted a video on January 30th, 2025 briefing the audience.

In the post, she said, “So I have a smoking hot golf take no one asked for, and we are going to talk about it anyways. So there is no secret that there has been intense discord online regarding professional golf and why it’s not capturing the audience like it once did. Honestly, because there’s a lot of s**t going on.” Continuing ahead, she pointed out the PGA Tour vs LIV Golf rivalry, not having the best players on the tour, and even shorter schedule.

She even said, “But golf, is at a major disadvantage compared to other sports. You don’t have a personal connection to an individual golfer like you do to your hometown team. And, let’s be real. Right now, with golf, this is a perfect storm. We always knew golf was going to struggle once Tiger Woods wasn’t playing week in and week out.”

This was just a glimpse of how she will be taking up the issue. Her first post on golf etiquette has already taken up a boost with fans and even the grounds crew thanking her for talking about this issue.
