What was Cameron Young thinking about? Imagine getting the opportunity to play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The challenging conditions at the Bay Hill Golf Course will put any golfer on high alert. Even the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy thread carefully when they approach the field. Then there is Cameron Young, who was in a much more casual mood as he teed off in the Signature event.
Playing a par 4 first hole, Young was still wearing his AirPods when he hit his opening shot of the tournament. It clearly seemed that he wasn’t taking the situation seriously, and he paid for it immediately. His drive went out of bounds and he was forced to take a penalty to start off the tee again. Young took 3 more strokes to finally reach the green and another 2 to sink the ball. In total, the 27-year-old managed to go 3 over after the first hole to start his run in the tournament.
The atrocious strokeplay was shared by NUCLR GOLF as they ridiculed Young’s attempts on the course. The caption read “ #YIKES — Cameron Young duck hooked his opening tee shot OB with AirPods still in… made triple bogey @CamYoungLegion”, as the attached pictures showed Young wearing AirPods while playing. One of the images even included the map of his 7 strokes on the hole.

Young was obviously ridiculed for his attitude in the Signature event. Fans were not pleased with his approach towards the prestigious and they didn’t hold back on sharing their piece of mind.
Fans call for Cameron Young’s disqualification from the event
A number of people in the community were triggered by Cameron Young‘s behavior. And they didn’t want him to continue in the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational. The comments ranged from “He should be DQed”, “DQ him”, to “Isn’t that a DQ?”. The general sentiment about it was to question the PGA Tour ruling authorities, and how is Young not disqualified from the tournament for what he did.
Judging by the way Young acted, there was a fan who also thought that he actually played better than he should have. They sarcastically said, “Triple bogey could have been worse I guess”. They believe that the PGA Tour pro should have scored far worse than he did on that first hole.
There was someone who took the blame off Young. They commented “I would blame LIV.”, sarcastically suggesting that the Saudi-based promotion is the reason behind the PGA Tour pro’s casual approach. As we all know, LIV Golf players are often criticized for wearing shorts and being more casual on the course. Then there was a fan who added Max Homa into the picture as well. “Him and Homa need to go”, they said as the latter has also managed 4 consecutive bogeys out of their total 7 in the first round. Shockingly, they still have a few holes to play.
One fan added, “If you are still betting on Cam Young to win a PGA event please call the hotline. You’ve lost your mojo”. They believe that Young is not capable of winning a PGA Tour event anymore. Another blamed Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy for Young’s failure. They said. “You can take the player out of TGL, but you can’t take TGL out of the player.” Apparently, too much TGL has affected Cameron Young‘s strokeplay. The win against Boston Common Golf might have gotten to his head.
