Despite Heat Legend’s Assurances, Kevin Garnett Wants Official End of Years Old Beef

3 min read

Kevin Garnett wants to end it officially! It has been dragged on long enough. The rivalry between the Heat and the Celtics is well known to have extended to the players in the past. “I see y’all in the grocery store, it’s on,” former Heat legend Udonis Haslem once warned while speaking of KG and his former teammate Paul Pierce. And the sentiment was the same on the other end too. However, it seems that with time, both parties have begun to take the high road to forget and forgive the past conflicts. While the retired Heat star has clarified his stance, The Big Ticket and The Truth want it to officially squash the drama.

In the latest episode of The OGs, with Zach Randolph as the guest, the rivalry between Haslem and Celtics legends KG and Pierce was brought up. The 3 X NBA champ was quick to assure that he no longer has any issues with KG.

Speaking of his shoot for Out The Mud Podcast, Haslem said, “We had a kumbaya moment today on that podcast. I told him with KG, I don’t have no smoke. With KG, that’s over. I wish him the best I’ve always been a fan of his game,” Haslem said. About Pierce, he added, “We working on the relationship with Paul…but ain’t no smoke man.

Surprisingly, his co-host Mike Miller added that KG and Pierce also wish to officially squash the long-held beef. This is understandable, considering how both parties have been public about their feuding. Miller revealed that both KG and Pierce felt they needed a platform to settle things. “They literally came up to me at the Grizzlies game, it was a couple weeks ago, probably three weeks ago, ‘Hey man we got to get on that podcast man we got to bring this we got to squash this,” Miller added.

This wasn’t the case a few months ago. But what led to their rivalry?

What caused the feud between Udonis Haslem and Kevin Garnett

Haslem, in his podcast, mentioned his respect and admiration for Garnett. However, in his previous interviews, the Heat legend detailed that if there was one thing he wasn’t fond of, it was Garnett’s trash-talking.

And The Big Ticket was massive on it. “I’m from a place where the things that you say out of your mouth, you got to be held accountable. And we all know KG say some crazy out of his mouth sometimes…I was waiting for retirement to kind of hold his a– accountable,” Haslem said on Stephen A. Smith Show.

The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics were the biggest rivals in the Eastern Conference. Haslem and Garnett never faced off head-to-head, and the latter never trash-talked Haslem. However, the Heat legend didn’t like the idea of his teammates being trash-talked by Garnett. But it seems that it’s finally time to see the end of the rivalry. And if we’re lucky, that might even happen publicly on a podcast, just as Garnett suggested.
