Deshaun Watson’s Ex-Backup Takes On Apex Predators in Offseason After Begging Andy Reid and NFL Teams for a Job

4 min read

All the Browns football fans sleeping in woke up to a storm on December 2. The week 13 matchup against the Broncos took QB Jameis Winston to a franchise record, with 497 passing yards, most in a single game. They had brought him in as a backup quarterback for their primary signal caller, Deshaun Watson. In 2024, Winston tried hard but had a poor 2-5 win-loss record. This forced the franchise to push him out in free agency. He’s using his free time to gain some new life experiences.

On March 19, a video went viral showing the NFL star in uncharted waters in Hawaii. Like literally! Showing his signature style, the signal caller showed full confidence, saying, “I was born ready.” But when he saw what was beneath the water, his facial expressions changed from enjoyment to pure terror. It was like he had seen a ghost. But it was not that. In fact, Deshaun Watson’s ex-backup saw apex predators – sharks!

Sharks are at the top of the food chain in nature, particularly in the sea. As the best killers in the waters, they force their prey to change habitats, making way for other species to grow. But they have also harmed people in rare but terrifying encounters. So, people usually fear them and stay away from these natural born ki—rs.

Winston also had a similar reaction to the horror. When the crew asked him if he would jump in the waters, he had a hilarious reaction, “I will, I mean, if I don’t have no blood, I’ll be good.” He also showed two sharks in the distance. It’s the balance of nature. Excited fans even demanded a reality show for the NFL superstar. He’s really funny!

Out of the desire to pump adrenaline, he also visited the NY Giants camp to find his place in the league. But things aren’t falling into place yet. He tried to get jobs from the Super Bowl teams last month. It didn’t work out, though.

Deshaun Watson’s ex-backup fails to find a place among the champions

Let’s go back to the New Orleans before Super Bowl LIX. The town is filled with fans, waiting for the big game. HCs Andy Reid and Nick Sirianni are confident of winning the trophy. But both of them had a special reporter at the press conference. The Browns’ former signal caller.

Winston made a special request to Reid and said, “Man, I hope I can play for you one day, I know it’s free agency. Can you do one thing for me? Can you eat a W with me?” It was a W-shaped candy that he had brought with him. That, sadly, didn’t translate into a contract offer. With Deshaun Watson’s ex-backup not getting a deal from the AFC champions, he is hoping for one from the NY Giants.

The Giants were jokingly suggested as a destination by ex-Giant Saquon Barkley when Winston turned up at his press conference as well. In the 2024 offseason, the Giants asked Barkley to test the market, and we all know how that turned out. Now it appears Jameis Winston might actually take those words seriously. NFL insider Josina Anderson claimed that teams could thrive under the 10-year veteran if they can avoid the plays that were hard for him. But the reality is, he is still without a team.

Things can change at any instant. In 2024, he made 181 of 296 passes (61.1% completion rate) in 2,121 passing yards with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. With his funny antics and heroic performances (on and off the field – let’s remind you, sharks!), he has earned many supporters. They are waiting for his next landing spot.
