Denny Hamlin Gears Up for Baby No. 3 Amidst Fiancée Jordan’s Hectic Pregnancy: “She’s Ready to Get This Boy Out”

6 min read

Could you believe that if Denny Hamlin hadn’t attended a basketball game, he wouldn’t have been having his third child? It was supposed to be just another night of watching his friend Michael Jordan’s team, the Charlotte Hornets. And standing among the cheerleaders was Jordan Fish, the woman who eventually became Hamlin’s wife. Just a few months down the line, Fish reached out to Hamlin to be a sponsor for the Miss South Carolina USA pageant, combining it with a thank-you dinner for the driver. Well, the romance that kicked off that night has turned into a happy relationship, one with two kids and a third on the way. And brace yourself because Hamlin has a new update for you!

Speaking about it on Actions Detrimental, Hamlin said, “She’s ready, I can tell you that she’s had enough. And again, I don’t have a human growing in my belly but I feel as though she got through the first six, probably seven months pretty good. This last few weeks, she’s had enough, I think she’s ready to get this boy out.

Well, the struggle has been real for Jordan. Do you remember when the couple announced they were expecting during Christmas? Well, in the months that followed, she shared a post that said, “I’m currently doing this challenge called January. It’s where you just try to make it through every day of January.” And the caption said, “Just trying to survive..one day at a time..iykyk.” Even before the pregnancy, Fish had talked about body pain in an Instagram story that said, “Help.. I have been having severe mid/upper back pain for the last two days. Completely locked up, can barely move, or reach over to pick my coffee.”

However, those struggles have slowed down as she approaches her June due date. Just a few days ago, the couple realised they were going to have a boy, and Hamlin couldn’t have been more excited! At the time, he said, “I had to have it, I had to have it, man. There was just too many women in the house. Between everyone, it just … being the only male in the house other than my dog, I might’ve had to tap out if we had one more girl. Still gonna be outnumbered, but this is just so much better for me.”

Just after that, Fish shared pictures of a baby shower, in a post captioned, “Thank you to my family and friends who threw me the most beautiful baby shower last week! I wish I could include everyone in all these photos who made it so special – because lil guy is so loved already can’t believe in a few short weeks we will be welcoming a baby boy! 🩵”

But here’s the real kicker. Remember the June due date we talked about? Well, it will be on the 1st of June, right in the middle of the Nashville race weekend. And if the Daytona race from 2013 is anything to go by, Hamlin will definitely be using the waiver to miss the race. We’re talking about the night Jordan Fish struggled with the birth of their first child right before the Daytona 500.

For the Joe Gibbs Racing driver, his priorities were clear. “I didn’t want to leave her home alone at any point during the night. These things can come at any time and she’s due right about now.” Staying up through the night with his partner, Hamlin picked himself up the next day and flew out from North Carolina for the race, skipping test sessions.

Speaking about it on the podcast, he said, “I think it’s this Sunday.” And when co-host Jared asked if another edition of the show would come out on Monday, Hamlin replied with, “That’s correct.” When Travis joked about moving the show to the hospital, Hamlin’s cheeky reply left the duo chuckling. “That’d be a good idea, she’d love that.”

Even if the baby comes on the weekend, Denny is ready. Talking about it earlier this year, he’d made his feelings known. “There’s a new rule though, right? You can miss a race for a birth and not lose your playoff points, or have to get a waiver? I’m going to need the cliff notes on all the new rule stuff, and we’ll go over that next week. But yeah, that’s good news. It seems like nowadays, though, that they can pretty much time whenever it happens. Yeah, like — they can they can make that — make it come out, whenever.”

And it’s not just the couple that’s excited. His daughters are incredibly happy! “We are really, really excited. Due June 1st-ish. So, right around Charlotte. Taylor is most excited that Molly will no longer be the youngest and be the baby in the family. And then Molly is excited to have a younger sibling that she can take care of,” he explained.

For now, let’s take a look at one of Hamlin’s parenting learnings!

Denny Hamlin gets important advice on parenting from a rival

On the track, Kyle Busch may give Denny Hamlin a run for his money, but when they meet on a couch and shoot a podcast, that’s when we see a different side to Rowdy. Now, he’s not exactly the Rowdy of old, is he? After becoming a parent, Busch changed. He matured. And when his son, Brexton, got into racing, Kyle realised a few things, and he was ready to share that with Hamlin.

Talking to his former teammate, Busch said, “I think a lot of it too is like, Brexton racing for, be glad you don’t have kids racing. Don’t. Not yet. Just don’t do it. I think Brexton being a racer and racing, and my messages that I’m trying to deliver to him, I’m now taking more sense in of understanding, right? I can’t do something this way when I’m trying to teach him that way. So like, I need to do that, so it makes more sense that I’m living by my word, you know?”

Hamlin might be listening to Busch. When Bob Pockrass spoke to the JGR driver about the possibility of his son racing in the future, Hamlin shut the idea down. “No, not yet! Again, I am trying to push my kids away from the racing as much as I can.” He added, “The girls, luckily, all they care about is singing, dancing, acting, things like that. But the boy, who knows!” Hamlin certainly has left some suspense, hasn’t he?
