Denny Hamlin & Co Choose Sides as Kendrick-Drake Beef Heats Up After Super Bowl LIX

5 min read

Kendrick Lamar’s explosive Super Bowl LIX performance ramped up an already escalating feud with Drake to a completely new level. With a shocking record of 133.5 million viewers, Kendrick seized the opportunity to voice some of his issues with the diss track “Not Like Us”. This public confrontation had not only captured the attention of music lovers and become a new hot topic of discussion, that even NASCAR couldn’t sideline.

The event-picking hit prompted NASCAR drivers, including Denny Hamlin and his colleagues, to take sides in the high-profile rivalry between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. However, this engagement unfolded uniquely, that went beyond your typical expectations. Interestingly, many drivers were unaware of the implications of their choices!

Denny Hamlin and his NASCAR rival’s interesting intake on the longstanding battle

It has been over ten years since the ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, which was marked by the friendly collaboration from 2011, but turned into an escalating rivalry by 2013. The reason? It’s the competitive battle between the two hip-hop artists, where Kendrick called out several rappers, including Drake, in his verse on “Control.” Since then, both artists have exchanged numerous diss tracks and public jabs. The rivalry has involved personal attacks, legal disputes, and significant media attention, making it one of the most prominent feuds to date. But it seems there are still many who live in different parts of the world; that’s what the drivers’ responses decoded.

Recently, NASCAR conducted a fun activity, including some of their drivers who share a similar competitive spirit. The name goes like Alex Bowman, Joey Logano, Kyle Busch, Carson Hocevar, Ross Chastain, Todd Gilliland, Zane Smith, Justin Haley, Ty Gibbs, Daniel Suárez, Denny Hamlin and Chase Briscoe. In their choose a cone activity, they asked the drivers to step on the side of the artist’s name they prefer, where airing the reel on Instagram, they captioned it with, “Asking the important questions. ”

Starting with Alex Bowman, who first seemed confused, with his initial reaction was completely blank as if what was happening, but when he understood the situation taking his time, he simply walked stepped on Kendrick Lamar’s side. But the fun part came when last year’s champion didn’t even know who Kendrick was as Joey Logano said, “ I don’t know who Kendrick is,” but still sided with him. Kyle Busch, like Rowdy, initially said, “I don’t even know who,” but then recalled, “Well, I know that one,” and walked with Kendrick. On the other hand, it was easy for NASCAR stars like Carson Hocevar to take sides, as he stepped towards Lamar’s side, too. Similarly, Ross Chastain did. However, Todd Gilliland got soft while deciding.

He first assumed to go on the Lamar side, but then changed his direction and stepped to the Drake side. Even Zane Smith and Ty Gibbs took the Drake side. But Justin Haley couldn’t resist himself from expressing his honest side, as he stood in between and said, “I couldn’t even name a song from either” He further added, “ I live under a rock.” On the other end, Daniel Suarez was like, “What is this?”, then comes the serious and confident Hamlin taking the side of the Kendrick, and Chase Briscoe goes to the Drake side.

This is not the first time NASCAR has poked some fun at bringing their drivers together. It has been a few days before only the latest collaboration of the NASCAR star left people to express their amusement in comments.

NASCAR lighthearted broadcast commercial

NASCAR is strategically shifting gears, expanding its broadcasting reach beyond traditional cable networks and forging new partnerships to capture a wider audience. The recent addition of Amazon Prime Video as a new broadcast partner brings NASCAR’s total of four key broadcasting partners for Cup Series coverage. This expanded broadcast presence is ready to accelerate viewership, attracting both longtime viewers and new audiences alike. However, the rollout of the multi-platform broadcast schedule wasn’t without its quirks.

However, the fun fact is that the scheduled commercial raised some eyebrows, with some feeling that it playfully poked fun at drivers like Kyle Larson, Noah Gragson, Brad Keselowski, Chase Briscoe, Todd Gilliland, and AJ Allmendinger collaborated in a hilarious broadcast schedule announcement teaser. Where Brad Keselowski took the role of narrator, indicating his leadership skills by making the other 5 aware of the sequence of race coverage by Fox, Amazon, TNT, and then NBC till the Phoenix.

The banter between drivers goes like with the comments on each other, where AJ Allmendinger said, “I think Chase could be mister September.” To which Noah Gragson pointed out, “Hello. I’m right here.” Going ahead Kyle Larson poked him saying, “No one wants to see your mullet on their fridge” Chase Briscoe changed the context by adding, “Truthfully, I’m just here for the chicken fingers” where Gilliland showed interest and said, “We get chicken fingers?”  The fun addition of the commercial went like with a funny edition of the drivers shoot, and Brad Keselowski maintained his serious tone until at last when he finished announcing the schedule, he stated, “I’ll be taking that championship home for Phoenix on November 7.” To which all the drivers got against. The last part was unexpected side to all the viewers, as after taking part in a serious calendar cover picture, it turned out in a hilarious collaboration of all the drivers.

Well, it’s fun to see the NASCAR transitioning into a more hilarious side as well off the track. Where one side, race picks up so much hit, the lighthearted fun chills all.
