Dennis Rodman Remains Silent on Son’s Double-Double Milestone Amid Ugly Family Feud

3 min read

“He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else.” Trinity Rodman’s words for her father were harsh enough to get an apology out of him. But when she called Dennis Rodman’s response “a joke,” the Chicago Bulls legend seemingly understood it better to keep his distance for now. Probably the reason that he didn’t come up with any response on social media on his son, DJ Rodman’s recent achievement.

Those who followed The Worm’s off-the-court life would know his two children, Trinity and DJ are navigating their way in the world of sports on their own. While Trinity is an accomplished soccer player, DJ is still finding his pace. And he had some success recently.

Playing for the Maine Celtics, DJ Rodman recently scored 20 points, and 12 rebounds against Osceola Magic. Expressing her excitement about her son’s highest score for Boston Celtics’ G-League affiliate was DJ’s mother Michelle Rodman. Sharing the post mentioning DJ’s score, Michelle wrote “Double-Double,” in the caption along with a heart and prayer emoji.

Family support has been a constant for DJ, even when the road wasn’t easy. Just recently, he came heartbreakingly close to a double-double in a game against the College Park Skyhawks. Remember GTV Hoops’ Instagram post praising his effort? Trinity Rodman couldn’t resist resharing it, adding a joyful “Yuppppppp” with five heart-eyed emojis. That sibling love? It’s the best kind of motivation.

Michelle wasn’t done showing her pride either. She reposted a graphic from the Maine Celtics’ official account—silent, but powerful. Sometimes, no words are needed.

These games came at a much-needed time for Dennis Rodman’s 23-year-old son, as Sports Illustrated had reported that the Maine Celtics waived DJ on January 9. The update came just days after Rodman’s debut with the Celtics in a January 4 game. He, however, went scoreless, grabbing 2 rebounds in the process. The outings that followed were similarly disappointing.

What does the future look like for Dennis Rodman’s 23YO son

After missing the game on January 11, his return with the Maine Celtics the very next day sent a clear message—Boston Celtics’ G-League affiliate wasn’t ready to part ways with him just yet. Although he had some more rough games with the team, he surprised everyone with his near double-double against the Skyhawks.

“Even if their best player’s going to score on me, I’m still going to be mad. I don’t want them to score. It’s all about the will,” DJ said in a post-game interview, reflecting his intent and seriousness. His subsequent outings proved that this was not a chance performance.

After his missed double-double, the 23-year-old scored just 8 points in the next game but gave a glimpse of his father, Dennis Rodman’s rebounding potential by grabbing 17 rebounds against the Long Island Nets. And now his most recent double-double against Magic is nothing but a reflection of his promising future.
