Deion Sanders Forced to Dismiss Shedeur Sanders Rumors as Future at $7.4B Franchise Nearly Confirmed After Cam Ward Update

Now it wouldn’t be like social media to blow things out of proportion, would it? Misconstrue comments, fabricate quotes or outright spread misinformation. It’s an epidemic that’s hit modern society like the plague. In a media landscape where generating clicks has taken precedence over being correct, one fallacious bit of information can do a lot of damage. News travels quick now, even quicker than legendary cornerback Deion Sanders can intercept it. Coach Prime has found himself on the end of this very epidemic. He alleges that a reporter has erroneously misquoted him. Not something Deion hasn’t experienced before. But he’s particularly vexed this time around- since it’s tied to his son Shedeur Sanders’ future.

Deion Sanders was a keynote speaker at the ProMat conference in Chicago last week. It’s a non-footballing event that’s got to do with SCM, so let’s spare the details. Here, Deion was apparently asked which NFL franchise he wishes will draft Shedeur in next month’s draft. According to Conference attendee John Sokol, Deion replied with “Let’s hope it’s New York,” Shedeur Sanders is currently perceived as a consensus top-2 QB in this draft class, and is slated by many a draftnik and analyst to go #3 overall to the NY Giants themselves. Shedeur has been flirting with the Giants on his own accord too. Fanning the flames of this link by wearing boots clad in their team colors at Colorado’s Alamo Bowl. This meant Deion’s comment spread like wildfire. Well, he’s brought out the fire hydrant.

After his “quote” did the rounds on both traditional and social media, Deion Sanders had to step in and clear the air. He says it’s false, that he never said that. In response to an IG page relaying that quote, Deion took to the comments section and said “THIS IS A LIE! We’re thankful for whatever God chooses for them” The last word implies Deion is alluding to Shilo Sanders, Shedeur’s older brother who’s also in the NFL fray. Albeit less prominently. A bunch of news outlets picked up that initial misquote, so Deion stepping in to quell the discourse makes sense.

It’s a travesty someone chose to ran with a fake statement. But even if Deion Sanders didn’t explicitly mention he wants Shedeur in the Big Apple, things do seem to be trending in that direction anyways. There’s no smoke without fire. Mock drafts and experts’ intel is useful information in judging where he’ll land. But perhaps the biggest clue Shedeur Sanders is trending towards the Giants has come from his contemporary Cam Ward.
