Dana White Faces Trilogy Fight Demands as Marvin Vettori Breaks Silence After Loss to Roman Dolidze at UFC Vegas 104

4 min read

Roman Dolidze and Marvin Vettori absolutely went to war, for the second time, this last Saturday. The 15-3-0 Georgian middleweight star redeemed himself by winning against Vettori at UFC Fight Night 254.The Caucasian’ first clashed against the 18-8-1 Italian star at UFC 286: Edwards vs. Usman 3 and lost via unanimous decision. However, the tables turned when he won their second bout at UFC Iowa, bringing their score to 1-1.

Dolidze was proud of his recent win and declared the same. “Any win is a good win, but one over Vettori is very important because I wanted to take my win back,” he said after the fight. The rivals met after almost two years and Vettori stepped into the Octagon after his last fight in 2023 and had been away since March 2024 due to a shoulder injury. While Dolidze does not see the trilogy fight happening any time soon, his opponent, however, has already sent a commanding request to the UFC boss.

‘The Italian Dream’ entered the UFC Vegas 104 rematch expecting to get a second win over his past opponent. However, the result surprisingly tipped in Dolidze’s favor and the latter won by unanimous decision. Both the encounters were electrifying and Vettori declared on X that he would love a trilogy fight. After the bout, he hopped onto X and said, “I guess we need a trilogy. The most nonsense trilogy I agree with you b**tards lol. But at this point, it has to happen.”

On the other hand, Dolidze is open to the trilogy fight but does not think the boss will do it so soon.He gave me this rematch. If UFC needed it and they told me about it, I’d probably do it, just out of respect, because I respect that he agreed to fight me. Why would he do this? Back then, I was No. 10. He was No. 7. He even said he thought it was Roman Kopylov, but I don’t trust him. He agreed to fight me. Just because of that respect of mine to him, I can do this. But I think the UFC will have other plans for me.” It’s good to see the duo moving forward and thinking about a trilogy fight, but Vettori seemed to be heartbroken about this loss.

Marvin Vettori voiced his regret at losing the rematch

After his shoulder injury, Marvin Vettori expected that his return would be sensational and he would make a statement. After almost two years on the bench, the former middleweight title challenger lost the rematch against his old foe. This loss might have put his top 10 ranking in peril, and the Italian fighter was utterly heartbroken.

“Nothing too bad, just some cuts and bruises,Vettori stated on Instagram Stories.F—, man. Life sometimes shows you that even when you give your heart out and everything you’ve got, you still fall short. That was a close fight. Almost had him in the third. But I guess it wasn’t enough.

The Italian star had even moved to Florida to train with the best fighters at American Top Team. He was happy with his team but was frustrated by his loss. Thank you to ATT, he said. Best in the world, bro. I love you guys. Thank you, UFC. What the f— can I say, bro? I don’t know. One of the top dogs of the division is now at 1-3 in his last 4 fights and is in a slump at only 31. Will he be able to return to his previous glory and get Dana White to agree to the trilogy fight? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
