Dallas City Creates Basketball History After Major Wins With NBA & WNBA Picks

2 min read

Dallas’s mood has been somber since their star was unceremoniously shipped out to LA back in February. And while the arrival of UConn sensation Paige Bueckers provided the city excitement, it has been tough for the fans to get over the trade of Luka Doncic.

However, the 2025 NBA Draft lottery in the Windy city has brought hope for the Dallas basketball fans as they’ve managed to secure the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft. They’re now the only city in history to draft first overall in the WNBA and NBA in the same year.

Mavericks only had a 1.8% chance of winning the first pick in the NBA draft, making them the 4th largest underdog to win it. The pick will likely bring into town the undisputed No. 1 pick from Duke, the generational talent that is Cooper Flagg. A player who has the potential to make Dallas forget all about the Slovenian magician.
