No more Rush hour in Dallas. As soon as Cooper Rush signed his two-year, $12.2M contract with the Ravens, it was only a matter of time before that farewell message graced us. Like the whole Cowboys Nation was just waiting patiently for their seven-year veteran to drop his final message before leaving for Baltimore. And that message finally arrived with words that can make anyone in Dallas shed a tear. A friendly suggestion: Get some tissues before reading Cooper Rush’s parting note if you don’t want tears on your screen.
On Wednesday, Rush took to his Instagram to share a compilation of his Cowboys tenure with an emotional message. “From an undrafted rookie wearing #7 to an eight-year veteran wearing #10. I appreciated every moment in a Cowboys uniform. Thank you, Dallas, for all of the love that you showed to me and family. I’m excited for the next chapter but forever grateful for the first one.” See, Rush may not have been an outright starter in the Cowboys uniform. But he was indeed a reliable backup whenever it was his turn to hop on the gridiron.
Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017, Rush only played 5 games in his first stint with the Cowboys. His best years in Dallas came in the final 4 seasons that saw him slowly make his mark on the team. 2022 was his kind of breakout year as a Cowboy following Dak Prescott’s thumb injury. Starting 5 games, Rush led the Cowboys to 4 straight wins (a franchise record for a first-time starter). However, that insane run came to an end at the hands of the Eagles. And just like that, the next week, Rush was back at his usual role, with Prescott reclaiming his starting duties. Still, there were more Rush hours to come.
2024 was kind of his biggest year that saw Rush start 8 games. Midway through the season, Prescott was out with a season-ending hamstring injury. So, Rush had the whole position to himself. And boy, did he give his all. Throwing for 1,844 yards, 12 TDs and just 5 INTs. Copper’s final year in Dallas saw him at least leave with his head held high. Yep, he couldn’t get the Cowboys into the playoffs, which surely could have been cheery on top.
Still, Rush showed enough potential that even exposed Terry Bradshaw’s hypocrisy. Let’s just say Bradshaw’s take on Cooper Rush will definitely upset the league’s richest QB, Dak Prescott.
Terry Bradshaw’s U-turn on Dak Prescott needs to be studied
You know, there was a time when Prescott’s future in Dallas had dark clouds hovering above. I mean, after coming off a career-high season with the Cowboys that saw him throw 36 TDs and just 9 INTs. Jerry Jones still didn’t offer him an extension right away. Classic Jerry move. So, when Prescott had all the leverage to himself. Terry Bradshaw opened up on his true feelings about Prescott, “I am a huge Dak Prescott fan. I believe Jerry Jones will do anything to win.” Well, of course, Jones did break the bank and gave Prescott a $60M per season contract extension.

However, Prescott couldn’t live up to his expectations in the first year of that record deal. Within 8 weeks, his season was over after leading the Cowboys to just 3 wins. Then it was Rush hour time yet again. Cooper also started 8 games tallying in 12 TDs, but ultimately it wasn’t enough. The seeds of the Cowboys’ failure were already sown through their horrendous start to the season under Prescott. And that led to a change in Bradshaw’s opinion of Prescott, someone he praised a few months back.
“He Rush should probably be the starter when the other guy comes back,” Bradshaw said live on air. Ohh!! That other guy jibe. Bradshaw didn’t even mention Prescott by his name as his fellow FOX broadcasters like Michael Strahan were flabbergasted. So, now it’s totally up to Prescott once he does come back to being the starter. Will he be able to give a fitting answer to Bradshaw’s bold claim and make him eat his own words? Or will it be the Fox broadcaster having the last laugh from his studio? What do you think?
