“Be Bold. Be Notorious.” $200M worth Conor McGregor has now entered the $24.3 billion global market of cigars with his new brand, Notorious Cigars. Yes, you heard that right! The Irishman already had multiple ventures in the form of Forged Irish Stout, Greenback Records, August McGregor Luxury Fashion, BKFC, and more. But his entry into the cigar market proved that ‘The Notorious’ had acquired quite a charm for building a business empire. Now, the tobacco enthusiasts have only one thing in mind. Is it worth the $140 a box?
Well, the Dubliner’s latest venture is in collaboration with MJ Frias Cigars, a Dominican company with over 30 years of experience in the cigar business. Moreover, McGregor has brought in Chris Frias as the company’s CEO, who has himself endorsed the luxury cigars. And being the second-generation tobacconist, his endorsement lifted McGregor’s cigars quite high.
Frias quoted, “Our collaboration with Conor wasn’t about simply making another cigar—it was about crafting a legacy. Over two years of meticulous blending and testing, we’ve created a cigar that is bold, balanced, and unforgettable—just like Conor himself.” On top of that, ‘Mystic Mac’ declared that it was his way of celebrating his victories. Smoking a cigar was his ritual. That was the motive behind his creation of the Notorious Cigars.
After all, he wanted everyone to have the same feeling. He claimed, “This isn’t just luxury; it’s personal. If you know my name, you know my standards. Notorious Cigars is crafted for greatness and made for legends.” And now, it was time for McGregor to enter the US soil with his new product. ‘The Notorious’ made his cigars available at the famous Harry’s Habana Hut in Bayside, NY.
Harry Mordjikian, the owner of the place, shared an IG reel where he announced the big news. He said, “Today, we’re officially one of the authorized retailers for one of the most banging, new, notorious cigars right now. And it is nothing but the Notorious Cigars by Conor McGregor. That’s right, baby. That is legitly Conor McGregor’s cigar.”
He added, “And it’s not just another big name that wants to put his name on a cigar that’s probably just a crappy dollar cigar. Honestly, this cigar was legitly made with love. And it’s nothing but high quality. And it’s from MJ Frias. It’s a banger, has the best of all three worlds. You have an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés binder, and you have fillers from Nicaragua and DR.”
Conor McGregor then welcomed Mordjikian into his business family. Sharing the reel on his own IG Story and that of the Cigar’s Instagram profile, McGregor wrote, “Welcome to the Notorious Family!” Of course, this came in after the tobacco retailer rewarded Notorious Cigars with a score of 9.9. Apart from that, the Irishman is also getting ready to land in the Canadian market for cigars. Havana Palace officially announced that McGregor’s brand is also ready to dominate the business in the Great White North.
But of course, Notorious Cigars isn’t the only brand that ‘Mystic Mac’ brought to life. Let’s take a look at the other ventures that the former UFC double champion has dived into, shall we?
Business ventures in Conor McGregor’s $200 million empire
Back in 2018, McGregor co-founded August McGregor with the famed tailor, David August Heil. And the niche that the duo chose was men’s clothing, primarily focusing on suits and accessories. The same year also witnessed the launch of Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey. This gained quite a bit of traction and earned about $250 million within the first 2 years. But in 2021, McGregor decided to sell the whiskey brand to Proximo Spirits for $600 million.
In 2020, the Irishman put forth a fitness and conditioning program called McGregor FAST (Fitness App & Training System). While this didn’t become as popular, McGregor’s entry into the food business got a lot of traction. He opened The Black Forge Inn in Dublin in 2020. Various celebrities have already dined at the venue. Now, there are talks about the Irishman opening branches of the pub outside Ireland.
2021 marked the launch of TIDL Sport. It’s a sports recovery brand that offers promising products to relax muscles and relieve pain. You’d be surprised to know that the brand got acknowledged by the Irish government and received an official government contract. Now, the product will be available on the Federal Supply Schedule. Impressive, right?
And how can we forget the Forged Irish Stout, which became a challenge for Guinness? That’s right! McGregor has aimed to surpass the iconic Guinness Extra Stout. And now, it’s time for him to dominate the cigar business.
