Colorado Coach Gets Emotional on Travis Hunter’s Special Day After Jaguars WR Takes Next Step With Leanna Lenee

5 min read

They met at a party in 2022, shared a red carpet moment at the NFL Draft, and got engaged in 2024. But Travis Hunter and Leanna Lenee’s relationship has been under the microscope ever since. From viral clips—like Lenee not standing during Hunter’s Heisman win—to resurfaced videos and public critiques, the couple faced relentless online scrutiny.

Still, the Jaguars‘ receiver/cornerback never flinched. He constantly defended Lenee, even deactivating his Instagram in solidarity. Lenee, too, addressed the criticism, expressing her genuine love and support for Hunter. No wonder, yet, through it all, they stood firm, supporting each other amid the noise. And on Saturday, the couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at The Barn at Faith Farms in Athens, Tennessee, as per the Daily Mail.

Even though the wedding was mostly a family thing with siblings and cousins in the spotlight, Hunter’s crew from Colorado didn’t miss out on his big day. A few familiar faces, including Rashad “Coach Shadd” Davis and Hunter’s Colorado teammates, still showed up to celebrate with him. Coach Shadd, now an offensive analyst of the Buffaloes, took to his official ‘X’ handle and penned down a heartfelt note for Hunter as the guy’s starting the next chapter of his life.

“Man I am so Grateful,” Coach Shadd wrote while sharing a couple of pictures. As a Coach, you don’t do it for touchdowns and catches. You become most proud when you can gain their trust, and they go on in life and continue to lean on what you taught them about the game of Life. I’m so proud of these 3 young men. (My guys).” Coach Shadd’s three guys?

Well, the three young men in the picture included Hunter as well as the former Colorado receivers turned pro, Jimmy Horn Jr. (now with the Panthers), and Xavier Weaver (now with the Cardinals). No wonder the coach was emotional, given that three of his guys have already made it to the pros. And to make it interesting, one of ’em is starting the next chapter of his life—Travis Hunter.

The couple kept it clean, in all white. Hunter rocked a sharp tuxedo while Leanna wore a strapless white gown by New York designer Justin Alexander. As for the guests… well, they really brought the vibe up in all black match during the ceremony. And just when the day couldn’t get any more over-the-top, Hunter surprised his bride with a blacked-out Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Brabus 800. Yeah… he actually did that.

And honestly, it makes it even more interesting after he himself rejected the gift from his new bride last month, when the Jaguars drafted him second overall.

When Travis Hunter rejected Leanna Lenee’s gift

Travis Hunter and Leanna Lenee are having a great year so far. On Saturday, the couple took the vows, taking their relationship to the next level, no wonder. And the month right before that? Yeah, the Jaguars drafted the former Colorado receiver/cornerback with the second overall pick. And that’s where things got pretty interesting.

Hunter shared the red carpet moment with Lenee on draft night. And after the Jags picked him at 2nd overall, she surprised him with a luxurious gift—a luxury watch worth around $30K. But rather than being thrilled or punching in the air, Hunter refused to accept the gift—humorously, of course. “Wait! What type of watch is this?” he asked in shock.

“Presidential Rolex,” one of his family members revealed. “That’s the big boy.” But Hunter wasn’t sweating it. In fact, the guy just wanted to know the exact price of the gift. Having said that, he took his phone and looked up the price of the gifted Presidential Rolex. “Hey Siri, how much does a Presidential Rolex cost?” the Jags’ receiver asked as the result revealed a $30K price tag.

“I could have bought a new boat. But y’all just ain’t give me the money… Why you just ain’t give me a boat?” he said humorously. However, Travis Hunter later learned that the gifted watch from Lenee is an investment, and the specific model that she brought for him costs over $70K. The result? Well, the guy refused to accept it.

“Yeah, y’all tripping… It’s a good investment, [but] don’t expect this type of gift from me. That ain’t happening, my boy. This type of gift ain’t happening. Not [for] me,” he said. But if you’re thinking that Hunter refusing to accept Lenee’s gift affected their relationship, then you’re highly mistaken, as the couple has already taken their relationship to the next level.
