Colorado Avalanche Coach Reveals How Veteran Player’s Advice Helped Them Win Recent Game

2 min read

It’s not an everyday thing to see players stepping beyond their roles and suggesting strategic insights that would make the team win. Or is it? Well, here’s what exactly happened! “The players often know a little bit more than us from watching each other,” said the Colorado Avalanche head coach! To say that a veteran player assisted his coach in making a game-changing decision that actually worked out in the team’s favor! But when experience speaks? It can do anything—even change the course of a match!

The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Montreal Canadiens 5-4 on March 23. And how did it happen? Well, definitely when the Avs star player Jonathan Drouin advised the coach, Jared Bednar, to send Brock Nelson for a shootout play against the Canadiens’ goaltender, Samuel Montembeault. Jesse Montano explained it clearly on X by sharing Bednar’s interview clip, and the post explained, “Fun note from last night, Jared Bednar had tapped Jonathan Drouin to shoot third in the shootout, but Drouin told him that Brock Nelson’s shootout move would beat Montembault. It did, and the Avs won the game.” Well, it looks like Drouin has enough knowledge about the Canadiens’ strategic moves and playing styles!
