Coco Gauff Takes Betraying Route for One Day to Cheer for the Eagles in Pursuit of Super Bowl Glory

While tennis fans know Hard Rock Stadium as the thrilling home of the Miami Open, it’s also a place close to Coco Gauff’s heart for another reason: it’s where her favorite NFL team, the Miami Dolphins, plays! Back in 2022, Coco got to experience the stadium from a whole different perspective. She was a special guest, cheering the Dolphins on to a big win. Her day included meeting star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and even leading a “Let’s go, Dolphins!” chant on the field with the team’s mascot. A year later, she was seen visiting the same stadium on Christmas Eve with her family to cheer for the Dolphins in their match against the Dallas Cowboys. But things have changed a bit this year… It looks like Coco’s had to switch allegiances and is now supporting the Philadelphia Eagles!

Let’s gear back for context!

The Philadelphia Eagles just absolutely destroyed the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl on Sunday night! The Chiefs were trying to make history with a three-peat, but the Eagles were like, “Nope, not today!” They totally crushed them 40-22 in New Orleans. What an incredible win for Philly!

Subsequently, the tennis star shared an Instagram story with the caption, “An eagles fan for the day & a kendrick fan forever.Later on, she even shared a tweet captioning, “congrats to philly lolll it was fun being an eagles fan for a day. I gotta go back to my fins now, but hopefully, we’ll see this success in my lifetime .”

As a matter of fact, it’s been 40 long years since the Miami Dolphins last graced the Super Bowl stage. Back in 1984, they were a force to be reckoned with, boasting a stellar 14-2 record. Dan Marino was at the peak of his powers, leading the league’s most potent offense and earning himself the MVP award. His incredible passing stats that year – 5,084 yards and 48 touchdowns – were records that stood for decades, a testament to his legendary talent.

They’ve got two Super Bowl rings, and get this – they won them both in a row! Fresh off their perfect season in ’72, they totally crushed it again in ’73, going 12-2. They had some serious star power too, with guys like Larry Csonka and Paul Warfield making the Pro Bowl and All-Pro teams. Talk about a dynasty!

Speaking about her love for the Miami Dolphins during a previous interview with the Miami Living Magazine, Coco Gauff revealed, “I really enjoy Miami, and I love going there. Actually, I’m a huge Dolphins fan. I’ve always enjoyed going to Hard Rock Stadium as both a fan and a player.”

Once the Buffalo Bills heir, Jessica Pegula, in a conversation with the Tennis Channel during the 2024 season, said, “I know when it was like last year, it was coming close, she’s (Gauff) like. She won’t say anything, and I don’t say anything, but it’s like there, but her dad will like try and get me going. Oh man, those Dolphins like we’re looking good and I’m just like whatever.

Eagles dominated Chiefs to win the big title, and the match was pretty much one-sided! However, apart from the match, there were a lot of other buzzes which took place during the half-time. One of them was Serena Williams’ surprising cameo during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance. How did Coco Gauff react to that iconic moment?

Coco Gauff on seeing Serena Williams doing “iconic things” at the 2025 Super Bowl

YOLO! Serena Williams‘ incredible dance moves stole the show on this Big Day in the NFL world. Kendrick Lamar and Serena Williams are both from Compton, California. The tennis star was spotted making her appearance on stage during Lamar’s performance of ‘Not Like Us’. This is the same song made history on Sunday (Feb. 2), becoming just the second hip-hop smash to win Grammys for both record and song of the year.

Well, others like Coco Gauff, Venus Williams, and Naomi Osaka looked stunned by Serena Williams’ incredible dancing skills.

Venus Williams dropped a reaction to Serena Williams’ post featuring that epic moment. The elder sister wrote, “You did that!!! @serenawilliams.” Perhaps her words were a testament to the popularity of Serena’s crip walk at the 2012 London Olympics.

On the other hand, Gauff first posted a tweet saying, “Serena is the ! icon doing iconic things.” Later on she came up with yet another tweet saying, “Loved the show, and serena ate that. I love rap music and hip hop culture man. shoutout to sza too & K dot and #SamuelLJackson narrating was just chef kiss. well thought out.

Wll, everyone in the Superdome was probably thinking, ‘Wow, those halftime shows are worth the price.’ But the real question is: what did you think of Serena Williams’ surprise appearance? Wasn’t that amazing?!
