The NFL Draft is almost upon us, and top CFB players are gearing up to enter the NFL World. At this critical point, no player knows which team his fate will lead him to. And on the other side, each team is making strategies to ensure that they acquire the player they need. Surprisingly, at this critical point in the draft, Clark Hunt has demanded a big thing from Roger Goodell. And if a team like the Chiefs makes a demand, it is clearly taken seriously.
But surprisingly, this time, the Chiefs’ demand does not come for the NFL officials. Actually, the team has made a huge request to the CFB players’ families. Everyone is aware that when CFB players are drafted, the NFL always records film of their families. Of course, when a player is drafted to a team, there is a huge celebration. And the Chiefs would like to see more celebrations like this one, but with more dogs.
Huh? Where did the dogs come into this? Actually, the Chiefs recalled when they selected Creed Humphrey in the 2021 draft. The center has been a huge component of the club since the draft, serving as their backbone. Interestingly, when the Chiefs chose him in the second round as the 63rd pick, the camera immediately focused on his family at home. And while they were celebrating and dancing, someone in the corner was holding and dancing with a dog.

The Chiefs shared the footage from that day and encouraged the families to make the dogs appear more prominently on camera. In Humphrey’s draft family video, the dog seems quite funny and almost doesn’t want to be there. The Chiefs even included a caption in the video urging the NFL to do the same, “More dogs in the draft this year please, @NFL”.
This was undoubtedly an interesting request made by the NFL. And it also shows that the squad, despite the tension after that SB loss, is still finding ways to have fun. But that doesn’t mean things are not going on for the team, as HC Andy Reid is focusing on quite a lot of things before the season.
Andy Reid wants to have a clear strategic vision for the Chiefs
After their crushing defeat in Super Bowl LIX, the Chiefs are in a precarious position. From here, the team can move both up and down. And obviously, they will only want to go up. Andy Reid, the squad’s HC, is also involved in improving the team and does not want the team to take any risks. He wants to improve even more and ensure that the Chiefs have another spectacular season. Rumor has it that the head coach is currently concentrating on improving his offensive line.

Rumors suggest that the HC is looking forward to drafting a good OT or even signing one. This is the reason he spent a significant portion of his pre-draft visits on different OTs. The squad is reportedly interested in major players such as Anthony Belton from North Carolina State, Gerad Christian-Lichtenhan from Oregon State, Bryce Cabeldue from Kansas, and Esa Pole from Washington State. On top of all of them, they’ve already met BYU LT Caleb Etienne.
Andy Reid is ensuring that his quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, does not face many tackles in the NFL. This will not only strengthen their offensive presence on the field, but will also increase the pressure. Aside from this, rumors suggest that the HC is looking forward to some significant draft prospects too. And the likelihood of a $14 million investment is there; indicating a shift in their strategic paradigm.
Only time will tell what the Chiefs are up to. But it looks like HC Reid is not done cooking.
