Calls Mount on Conor McGregor After Surprise UFC Return Tease With Son Goes Viral

5 min read

Remember when Conor McGregor declared his comeback to the Octagon last year? Well, a year has flown by, and the former two-division champ is still nowhere to be seen. But earlier this month, ‘Mystic Mac’ dropped a bombshell that jolted the MMA world awake: “I’ve got two fights on the [UFC] contract, I’m in negotiations.” That one line was all it took to reignite the hype. Now, with McGregor’s latest training montage making waves, the buzz surrounding his return is hotter than ever.

Conor McGregor has, yet again, taken to his Instagram handle to share a montage of his training. In a video uploaded on his social media, we saw ‘Mystic Mac’ throwing his hands off a pad. The former champion captioned it as, “Little Mack watching his Daddy I love my family so much, I thank God every day.” This post comes following Paddy Pimblett’s spectacular victory over Michael Chandler last night at UFC 314. Now, you might be wondering why we are bringing ‘The Baddy’ into this equation. Well, there’s an actual reason for it.

Ahead of Michael Chandler‘s anticipated clash against Paddy Pimblett, Conor McGregor took to his Instagram handle to add another video of his training with the pads with a caption that read, “I am interested in the Chandler/Pimblett fight this weekend.” Of course, this doesn’t indicate that he might be returning to the Octagon, however, it does increase the chances of him coming back to take on Paddy Pimblett.

Many fighters have challenged Conor McGregor; however, the former UFC champion has yet to respond to any of those callouts regarding his return. Interestingly, Paddy Pimblett’s victory at UFC 314 opens new doors for a potential comeback for the Irishman as a fight with the English star would generate massive numbers for the UFC and offer McGregor a compelling opportunity. Given that, let us have a look at what the fans have to say about the video McGregor posted.

Fans react as Conor McGregor yet again shares his training footage

It is been approximately four years since the former dual weight champion has set foot inside the Octagon, and this has raised serious doubts from the fans: “Conor you are never fighting again.” The Notorious’ was supposed to fight Michael Chandler last year at UFC 303, but he had to pull out of the fight due to a toe injury, and since then, there have been no signs of his comeback.

Michael Chandler was a top talent when he debuted under the UFC back in 2021. However, times have drastically changed for the Missouri native. With his defeat against Paddy Pimblett, Chandler is riding a three-fight losing streak and might be en route to leaving the UFC. Looking at this, a fan wrote, “Conor sleeps Chandler easily.”

Moreover, another fan added, “CONNOR VS PADDY?”  Since his first fight against Charles Oliveira at UFC 262, Chandler has shown a tendency to retreat when his opponents rush in. We’ve seen this behavior against Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira (both times), and even Paddy Pimblett. Looking at this, a fan wrote, “You make Chandler run in that octagon.”

Another fan added, “This in slow motion?” It must be noted that McGregor’s speed has been a question for the MMA community since his exodus from the fighting world. Chael Sonnen, in his statement, even ascertained that the fighter might face a grave defeat if he ever tries to get back inside the Octagon once again: “There is not an athlete under contract with the UFC that Conor can beat. That’s not meant to be mean. The least experienced 155-pounder would clean him up. The least experienced 175-pounder would clean him up. If Conor was to come back and enter at ’55 or enter at ’70, he would be the worst in the entire division.”

Last but not least a frustrated fan added, ““1000th video of you hitting pads nothing special I hope mike chandler knocks you unconscious one day.”

Despite the buzz, the return of the former two-division champ might still be on ice. According to the UFC’s Anti-Doping database, Conor McGregor has yet to submit a single test sample in 2025 — a crucial requirement for any fighter eyeing a comeback.
