Not just that, but the QB, without even becoming the starter, commands an NIL value of $6.8 million and has landed massive NIL deals with giants like Red Bull and Vuori. The hype then hit the roof as the SEC Network released a recent video on X.
The video showed the promise of Arch Manning as various prominent analysts tout the young QB to be the game-changer for Texas. “Can Manning play? His last name would suggest he can play very well,” says one analyst, while another declares. “I haven’t met one yet that he can’t play. From the grandfather. Archie and Eli, and Peyton, the whole crew. So the answer is yes.”And to top it off? Paul Finebaum calls whether Arch can play or not the “easiest question.”

Ideally, this would be the end of it, but the SEC Network posted the video on their X account, and the reactions in response are sharp and quite diverse.
Fans express frustration over unnecessary Arch Manning hype
While Arch’s uncles, Eli and Peyton Manning, are known for their pocket passing abilities with limited mobility, Arch, on the other hand, has grown out of the mold. Take, for instance, his 108 rushing yards for 4 touchdowns last year on 25 carries, which adds another offensive dimension to Texas’s offense. This potentially makes him a complete QB for Steve Sarkisian. And yet, not everyone agrees with the take in the video posted by the SEC Network.
“Except we had Joe Burrow in 2019… smh,” wrote an LSU fan commenting on the post. While another pointed towards the unnecessary attention given to Arch, which could lead to pressure on the QB. “They are setting him up to fail so hard. I feel for the kid,” wrote the user. It’s not that the hype for Arch Manning is unwarranted, but it is the level at which it hasn’t happened before.
Take, for instance, Joe Burrow, who didn’t get much hype initially, being a four-star recruit. But overnight, the tide turned for him. With Joe Brady as his OC, Joe Burrow found his rhythm in the spread offense. “Burrow was a good quarterback who became great… almost overnight in 2019,” said ESPN’s Chris Low. But even then, Burrow had to prove himself in his historic Heisman season. That also includes a national championship with a team that gets compared to the Miami teams of the early 2000s. As for Arch, that isn’t the case. The doubters remain.
“So why didn’t he start over a 7th rounder?” asked a user. While another said, “Overhyped by ESPN, I bet he is hurt by week four. And out for the season.” Of course, it’s valid to question why Arch Manning didn’t start over Quinn Ewers, who got drafted in the 7th round in this year’s draft. But at the time, young Arch was still learning, and it’s not that Quinn Ewers was bad in those two years.
Ewers led Texas to back-to-back playoff semifinals, and that’s something that would be herculean for Arch, who was still learning the offense. But now? Though there is concern about him playing against weaker opponents last year, the first game itself is a monumental challenge against OSU. But, given the type of talent he is and the quality of Texas’s defense, Arch Manning should thrive ideally. For now, though, as one Texas fan remarked, “As a Texas fan, I’m so sick of the arch hype, let the kid be great,” let the kid be. And with just two weeks left for the season, judge him on his performance in that game against OSU.
