Being one of the most recognizable teenage hoopers means you’re always under more scrutiny. Ask Cooper Flagg if you want that statement corroborated. But this time, he’s getting dragged online for something he didn’t do. Let us explain.
The Tobacco Road rivalry, as expected, took off for a thrilling start at Chapel Hill, with Duke leading by a mere point by the first half. The problem? The Blue Devils are faring well without their star freshman on the court! Flagg has pretty much been a non-factor since subbing in, and let’s just say that fans aren’t happy. But it’s quite understandable, nonetheless.
Cooper is supposed to be leading the Devils’ offense. Instead, he’s almost relying on his teammates in this game. Not the best look for the 18-year-old if we’re being honest. Here’s a taste of the backlash he’s facing online.

You see what we’re talking about? The Tar Heels seem to be growing in confidence as the game goes. Nevertheless, Duke still has a commanding lead, but that’s to be expected from a team on a 7-game winning streak.
What we don’t expect is one of their biggest stars blanking when his team needs him. And clearly, Duke fans feel the same way. Here are some of the best reactions online to Cooper’s performance.
Fans online rip into Cooper Flagg for his terrible showing against UNC
It seems Cooper’s lacklustre performance tonight is already costing fans. “Third time I’ve put Cooper Flagg on my parlay and he plays like dog shit.. I can’t stand this mother fucker and his sorry ass 3 points in the first half ,” wrote an X user lamenting their ill-fated gamble. And we get it. Cooper isn’t on the best run lately. While his numbers are decent, he’s not looking like the world-beater we’re used to seeing. His last game against Wake was the first time he’s cracked the 20-point mark in 6 games.
But some fans seem to have learned from their past mistakes. One such member of the community wrote, “Lmao man I almost took him. He screwed me the last two times I bet on him. I’m glad I didn’t.” And to their tweet, the fan who we discussed above wrote, “He wont never see another slip of mine again lol.” Seems fans are losing faith in Flagg’s ability to pay off for them. And with his performance tonight, we can’t blame them.
