Jumping from a little under $1 million APY to $53 million APY, the 49ers QB Brock Purdy has made the biggest money jump of any NFL player (arguably). The Niners showed confidence in him and told everyone that they wanted to extend his deal. In the end, the HC Kyle Shanahan, GM John Lynch, and owner Jed York came together and signed a 5-year $265 million extension. It made him the 7th highest-paid quarterback among the current NFL signal callers. Maybe it’s time to drop the Mr. Irrelevant title. He is their center piece now. The most important part! The cog heel that keeps everyone else attaches.
However, NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo reported on May 18 that along with the deal, the 49ers will also sign a no-trade clause with the quarterback. It gives him control of his future, allowing to choose his destinations if the moment comes. With $181 million in total guarantees, including $165.05 million during the first three years of the deal, Brock Purdy will like to stay here.
As part of his five-year, $265-million extension, #49ers QB Brock Purdy received a full no-trade clause for the duration of the deal, sources tell The Insiders.

Yet, there are serious concerns here. They don’t trust their QB that much. And called out the franchise for signing such a deal.
Fans rally against 49ers amid Brock Purdy contract extension
In 3 years, the last pick of 2022 NFL draft has taken them into 2 playoffs, including Super Bowl LVIII against the Chiefs. But one fan still doubted his abilities and wrote, “The 49ers think this kid is the new Joe Montana… unreal.” It didn’t end there.
The money associated is huge. It forced another fan to mention, “What an absolute joke of a contract. This may be one of the most over-the-top contracts for a mid level player I have ever seen.” But the HC, GM, and the owner trust him. Moreover, they are dealing with a shortage of talent this year. It increases pressure on Brock Purdy. He will need to carry that.
