It all started with the Indiana Fever posting about CC’s return to the court. Since she had already missed the last five games, the announcement that she would play in the upcoming game against the Liberty quickly became a trending topic. “She’s back,” the team captioned the post. “Caitlin Clark is ready to play tomorrow against New York.” But it wasn’t just the post that grabbed attention; it was Clark herself who jumped into the comment section with two messages.
“Happy,” Clark wrote in the first. But the second wasn’t just an expression of emotion; it was a reply to none other than the $30 million snack company Cheez-It. Now, it’s normal for brands to pop into the comments when you’re as popular as Caitlin Clark, and Cheez-It, the iconic cheese cracker brand, was one of them. “Let’s gooooo,” they commented. But what’s not normal is that Clark, scrolling through the comments, spotted their message and couldn’t help but make a bold, unexpected request. “@cheezit squad needs a lot of Cheez-Its to the facility plzzzzz,” she wrote. “All the flavors. Duos and Extra Toasty for me :).”
Well, that’s the fun, light-hearted side of Clark that fans don’t often get to see. Cheez-Its isn’t one of her close friends, after all, and yet she joked like it was an inside conversation. Surprisingly, the brand played along and replied.
“On it,” the brand wrote. But let’s be honest—why would an elite athlete like Clark, with her toned frame and strict routine, make such a request? That’s because our 2024 Rookie of the Year is absolutely obsessed with Cheez-Its. In her own words: “I’m not a big snacker, but Cheez-It is the one.” Still not convinced? Just ask her teammate Kelsey Mitchell, who once called Caitlin out for always having Cheez-Its in her bag when the team hits the road.
But this isn’t the only thing she likes to eat, though. According to Hannah Bier, CC likes to have a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich from McDonald’s, paired with an iced macchiato with vanilla sweet cream cold foam from Starbucks for breakfast. So simply, CC likes to eat a lot of fast food. But our superstar burns more calories in a day than she eats. She trains, plays, travels, and leads a franchise, so if there’s anyone who’s earned their sugar fix, it’s her. But her love for food isn’t just limited to having a variety of snacks! It’s because the 23-year-old Iowa native has a childhood dream of opening a restaurant.
While she hasn’t formally announced any projects yet, multiple interviews suggest that food and entrepreneurship are both passions she’s exploring. Her attention to taste, love for regional snacks, and openness to new dishes suggest this isn’t just a pipe dream; it’s a blueprint in the making. Whether it’s a cozy breakfast joint serving her McDonald’s-inspired favorites, a Southern-style café offering chicken salad and peach sandwiches, or even a sporty, snack-themed hangout decked out in Cheez-It décor, Clark has the charisma and business pull to make it happen.
And if the restaurant does happen, you might want to visit it for some CC specials.
Caitlin Clark is a chef, too!
Well, Clark’s got a name for the restaurant, too. Rib Crib. “When I was a kid, I loved ribs for some reason. It’s what I wanted for every birthday,” she admitted. But that’s not all. Our superstar is a self-proclaimed foodie who takes her cooking just as seriously as her step-back threes. “So I’m actually a very good cook, thank you,” she said with a smile during a Sports Illustrated video. “I made fudgy brownies this weekend.” She did not stop there, of course.
Clark confidently flexed, “I have a great spicy vodka sauce recipe. Yeah, and I’m making broccoli beef tonight.” So if CC ever gets to open a restaurant, she could easily be the chef too. But one thing we can predict for sure is the menu, because the Indiana Fever sensation loves fast food, and it’ll definitely be featured heavily.
“My favorite? I think the Georgia peach ice cream sandwich. You can’t go wrong with that… the sugar cookies are really good,” she said, adding that her go-to sandwich would definitely be the chicken salad on honey wheat. So clearly, she’s already building the menu in her head.
Anyway, for now, the real question is: will the Cheez-Its brand take notice? Could a deal be in the works?
