Browns GM Confirms Stance on Shedeur Sanders as Starter With a Contract Update on Nick Chubb

Shedeur Sanders and his selection to the Cleveland Browns? Talk about a more thrilling story. Before the draft, Sanders showed up at the East-West Shrine Bowl, but here’s the twist—he’s not practicing or playing. Instead, he’s just chilling, meeting with teams. The rumor mill goes wild, suggesting the Browns, Titans, and Giants asked him to sit out to avoid looking bad ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

The draft came and left us with too many questions about Sanders’ draft stock. But amidst this drama, the plot thickened over Cleveland’s decision to pick Coach Prime’s kid. The Browns scooped him up with the 144th overall pick, and all of a sudden, the rumor mill was buzzing that the team’s owner, Jimmy Haslam, was the one scribbling names on the Browns’ draft card. And yeah, not the general manager, Andrew Berry.

But Berry wasn’t sugarcoating it. Berry recently stopped by 92.3 The Fan, where he discussed Sanders’ rookie season. When asked if these noises around the decision to pick Shedeur annoy him, Berry straight-up admitted that he isn’t paying attention to them while praising Shedeur. “No. I don’t really pay any attention to any of that,” Berry said.

“I mean, we’re super excited to have him, you know, we spent a lot of time with him in the process. He’s a good kid. He’s talented, you know, we were surprised that he was available at 144, and we’re excited to add him to the room. But he’s got to compete and earn a role just like Dillon, Kenny, Joe…I don’t really care about the narratives.”

This is a developing story. Stay Tuned!
