The New York Giants have spent the past few years throwing darts at the quarterback board, hoping something sticks. First, they handed Daniel Jones a massive contract—only to watch injuries and inconsistency derail the plan. Then came the short-lived Tyrod Taylor experiment, and now Jameis Winston is in the mix. But let’s be real—with his two-year, $8 million deal, he’s more of a backup option than the future of the franchise. So, now what?
Well, the head coach, Brian Daboll, and the general manager, Joe Schoen, are still out there hunting for a QB. The speculations are linking them to Aaron Rodgers and with the No. 3 overall pick, they’re certainly going to draft a rookie. The catch? Well, the Big Blue has its sights on one of the top prospects in the draft. And let me assure you, we’re not talking about Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart here, folks.
In fact, Daboll and Schoen have something crazy in their mind as they’re looking to likely draft Miami’s Cam Ward. Yeah, you read that right. On Monday, The Post’s Giants beat writer, Paul Schwartz, reported on his official ‘X’ handle: “Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll lead the Giants contingent to Miami for Cam Ward’s Pro Day. They will probably like what they see. It is all a big tease or can the Giants move into position to get Ward in the NFL Draft?”

Now, that’s surely an attention-worthy news to note. That’s because this week is going to be a crucial week for the QB-needy teams. Now think about this—maybe, just maybe, Daboll and Schoen have their eyes locked on Ward for this year’s draft, it’s going to be a tricky road. After all, at this point, Ward is already out of their reach. The reason? It’s the Tennessee Titans.
They have the No. 1 overall pick and they’re likely to use it on Ward. Sure, there have been some speculations that the Titans are going to trade down for the Giants, but considering Will Levis could be a backup QB in 2025, they might just hold on to that pick. If that’s the case, the Giants are way behind in the race for Ward. Now’s the question: if not Ward, then who’s their next target on the first day of the draft?
Shedeur Sanders could be an option. The kicker? Well, the Cleveland Browns are expected to lock him down. The reason’s pretty simple: Deshaun Watson’s probably going to miss out on the whole 2025 season. That means the Browns are also on the hunt to draft a signal caller. That said, the Giants can only hope Cleveland takes a swing at Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter instead of Ward.
But let’s not forget that this week is going to be crucial for the Giants. Besides Cam Ward’s Pro Day on Monday, Quinn Ewers will throw at the Texas Pro Day on Tuesday, while Jaxson Dart will throw at the Ole Miss Pro Day on Friday. Now, one thing is clear: Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen are having a tight schedule this week.
And why wouldn’t they? I mean, they’re looking to lock down Aaron Rodgers, who’s ready to ditch them for the rival team.
Brian Daboll to lose Aaron Rodgers to the Steelers?
Aaron Rodgers’ signing just threw this offseason into absolute chaos—twists, turns—and just when things seemed settled, here we go again. At one point, it seemed like the four-time MVP would consider retirement if the Vikings wouldn’t sign him, but here we are. The man just visited the Steelers facility a few days ago, reportedly had a chat with Mike Tomlin and his crew, and all of a sudden, Rodgers is expected to sign with the Steelers.
To make things more interesting, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk believes that the Steelers are eventually going to sign Rodgers. “The ‘when’ remains to be seen. The ‘if’ is slowly becoming more clear,” Florio wrote. “As one source in the general vicinity of those who would be in position to know said Sunday, it’s a ‘safe bet’ that quarterback Aaron Rodgers eventually will sign with the Steelers.”

On top of that, the Steelers’ desire to sign Rodgers increased after the 41-year-old QB visited the Steelers facility and had a six-hour-long meeting with the head coach and the offensive coordinator. If we believe ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler’s recent reports, the Pittsburgh team is “aggressively pursuing” Rodgers.
And let’s be real—with the Vikings ditching him and the Giants already signing Jamies Winston while still looking to draft a QB, it’s pretty certain that the Steelers-Rodgers deal is on the tables. The official confirmation is yet to arrive, but you can expect the announcement anytime soon.
