Bobby ‘King’ Green Losses: Who Has He Lost to in His UFC/MMA Career?

4 min read

Bobby ‘King’ Green is a name that echoes across the lightweight division. A veteran of the sport, he has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. From his days dominating King of the Cage to battling in Strikeforce and the UFC, Green has never backed down from a challenge. His slick boxing, relentless pace, and unshakable confidence have made him a fan favorite.

But in the unforgiving world of mixed martial arts, even the best suffer defeats. Green has stepped into the Octagon against some of the most dangerous fighters in the world. Some nights, he emerged victorious. Other nights, he tasted the sting of defeat. So, who has managed to conquer ‘King’ Green inside the cage?

Who has Bobby Green lost to?

‘King’ Green’s journey started outside the UFC, where he honed his skills in promotions like Affliction, Tachi Palace Fights, and Strikeforce. His early setbacks were lessons, not failures. Josh Gaskins handed him his first ever loss via unanimous decision.

A young Dan Lauzon caught him in a rear-naked choke at Affliction: Day of Reckoning. Then came a toe-hold submission loss to David Mitchell and a TKO stoppage against Tim Means.

By the time Green arrived in Strikeforce, he had already built a reputation as a fearless competitor. However, Gesias Cavalcante edged him out in a split decision, marking his only loss in the promotion.

When the UFC came calling, Green was ready—but the road ahead would be brutal.

In 2014, ‘King’ Green’s unbeaten UFC streak came to an end against Edson Barboza. The Brazilian striker’s powerful kicks and pinpoint accuracy proved too much, earning him a unanimous decision. But that was just the beginning.

Dustin Poirier delivered a harsh reality check at UFC 199, knocking Green out cold with a flurry of punches. It was a reminder that in the lightweight division, a single mistake could end the night early.

Over the years, Green found himself on the wrong end of razor-close decisions. Rashid Magomedov, Drakkar Klose, Francisco Trinaldo, and Thiago Moisés all secured decision wins over him.

Then came Rafael Fiziev. At UFC 265, Green and Fiziev put on a striking clinic, trading blows at lightning speed. Green made it competitive, but the judges favored Fiziev’s power shots.

Perhaps the toughest test of his career came against Islam Makhachev. On short notice, Green stepped up to face the Dagestani juggernaut at UFC Vegas 49. But Makhachev was relentless, overwhelming Green with his suffocating grappling and finishing him with ground-and-pound.

Drew Dober followed with a highlight-reel knockout over him at UFC Vegas 66. Jalin Turner added another brutal KO to Green’s record in 2023.

In 2024, Green faced Paddy Pimblett at UFC 304. The outspoken Liverpool native silenced any doubters, locking in a triangle choke that put Green to sleep. It was a tough loss, but if there’s one thing we know about Bobby Green—it won’t keep him down for long.

King Green’s UFC records and stats

Bobby ‘King’ Green’s record is a testament to his resilience. With a professional MMA record of 32-16-1, Green has never shied away from a challenge. Every setback has made him stronger, sharpening his skills and fueling his hunger.

Now, at UFC 313, ‘King’ Green will step into the Octagon to take on the surging Mauricio Ruffy. With a striking record that cements his place in UFC history and a reputation as one of the most entertaining fighters in the game, Green isn’t done yet. Will the ‘King’ rise once again at UFC 313?
